ign & Digital UK returns to the NEC Birmingham from 25th to 27th February with its first Sunday appearance and a host of great features. Sign & Digital UK (SDUK) is back in 2024 for another great opportunity to bring the sign-making, large format printing and visual communications industry together.
The three-day show starts on a Sunday for the first time, making it more accessible for small business owners to take the opportunity to see the latest products and network without losing valuable business time. The show is co-locating with Printwear & Promotion LIVE! A link will be opened between the
two halls, allowing for easy access from one into the other, without the need to exit and re-enter by way of the two entrances.
The floor plan is already taking shape, with some of the biggest names in the industry confirming their stands, including Roland DG, Epson UK, Premier Paper, Soyang Europe, Vivid Laminating Technologies, and Quality Print Services. More exhibitors are in the process of signing up with a number returning to the show after being absent, and there will be a host of companies from across the sign and display industry ready to inform, entertain and meet with visitors. H&M teams up with Coloreel T
he global fashion retailer H&M has joined forces with Coloreel to introduce a pioneering approach to customized embroidery. This new partnership allows customers at the H&M Alexa store in Berlin to personalize their apparel with a myriad of expressive designs. The program marks the start of a new and innovative in-store pilot developed by H&M beyond. Customers can select from a diverse library of designs that will be updated on a weekly basis.
Coloreel redefines the art of embroidery, offering an unlimited spectrum of colours at the touch of a button. The technology reduces wastewater by a remarkable 97%
and utilises recycled thread, marking a significant step towards more sustainable production.
“Our partnership with Coloreel reflects our commitment to enhance the shopping experience through innovative solutions,” states Oliver Lange, Head of H&Mbeyond. “By embracing this advanced technology, we can offer our customers a unique and engaging store visit.”
With the collaboration, H&M and Coloreel want to explore ways to create exciting brick-and-mortar shopping experiences and analyse the influence that a disruptive technology like Coloreel’s has on in-store purchases.
New machinery from Merchr M
erchr has boosted its capacity after installing a raft of new custom-built machinery as part
of a £250,000 investment.
Merchr has taken delivery of five new machines at its production facility in Middleton, Greater Manchester. The investment enables Merchr to ramp up its services to a growing customer base of retailers, visitor attractions and online brands.
Merchr is also recruiting for several new roles as it grows its team in line with its expansion. These include back-end and front-end web developers, e-commerce
www.printwearandpromotion.co.uk and marketing staff.
The new equipment includes a flatbed printer which can print up to 60 notebooks at a time with a varnish finish, and a 360-degree cylinder printer machine for water bottles and flasks, with capacity to produce 250 an hour. Merchr has also installed a GraphTec cutting plotter which produces raised printing with a vinyl finish, along with a laser-guided dual heat pressing printer for glitter, neon and textured printing on t-shirts, hats, toiletry bags and other items. The fifth new piece of kit is a 360-degree heat press machine for hats.

“We are proud to team up with H&M to bring forth a new era of personalised fashion,” says Mattias Nordin, SVP product management at Coloreel. “Together, we are redefining the boundaries of traditional embroidery, empowering customers to express their individuality”.
The service is offered at the H&M Alexa store in Berlin during Q4 2023. While the service currently extends to products within the store, plans for embroidering customers’ own garments might be added later. This approach would extend the lifespan of garments, creating a positive environmental impact.
changes to the show in 2024, including co-location with Printwear & Promotion LIVE! and a first Sunday session. We expect these changes to make it an even more valuable experience for visitors and exhibitors.
“We have seen first-hand how visitors appreciate coming to exhibitions on a Sunday. It gives them a more relaxed opportunity to take in the event, and we have found they stay longer and enjoy more of what is on offer.”
