Gildan reports record 2021 results G


ildan Activewear has announced its full year results ending January 2 with sales totalling $2.9 million. Gildan’s 2021 sales are up 48% compared to 2020 and up 3.5% compared to 2019, surpassing pre-pandemic levels. Glenn J. Chamandy, president and CEO


of Gildan, said: “I am extremely proud of our team’s performance in 2021 which allowed us to capitalise on improving demand and deliver meaningful benefits from our Back to Basics strategy. We ended the year with a strong finish, growing above pre-pandemic levels and setting record results to build on.


Gildan appoints new board member Gildan has appointed Dhaval Buch to the company’s board


of directors.


With the appointment of Mr Buch, the company’s board now comprises 11 members. He will serve on the board’s corporate governance and social responsibility committee. Gildan’s board chairman, Donald C. Berg, said: “Dhaval is an accomplished business leader and his international expertise in supply chain operations and extensive knowledge in sustainable sourcing makes him an ideal addition to our board. “We welcome Dhaval and look forward to his insights as we execute on the next phase of the company’s growth.”

Mr Buch is currently a senior advisor for Blackstone Private Equity, a leading global investment business and to the Mahindra Group, a large India-headquartered multinational with interests in automobile, farm and finance industries. Prior to this, Mr Buch had a 35-year career as a business leader with Unilever where he last served as the global chief procurement officer for the company.

For the fourth quarter, Gildan generated record sales of $784m, up 14% over the prior year and 19% above the fourth quarter of 2019.


Over the next three years Gildan aims to grow its net sales by a further 7 to 10%.


GMG Academy introduces colour management workshops

qualified operators.


Clemens Graf has held many workshops himself and said: “Especially when you are new to the subject of proofing and colour management, you want to rethink existing processes and explore ways to improve and develop those further. In this situation, it is incredibly valuable to see how others


work. That way, you can take the best practices that fit your circumstances.” The GMG Academy offer is now divided into two categories: the fundamentals of proofing and colour management on one hand, and profiling expert knowledge on the other. As a result, both categories benefit from an even broader knowledge transfer. The participants work in direct exchange on real projects. The personal interaction combines different experiences and use cases –


and these new impulses are expressly desired. For example, when packaging and commercial printing projects are discussed together, both sides can learn and benefit from each other.


The GMG Academy workshops are offered in both German and English. Face-to-face workshops will take place again from May 2022. In addition to the fixed dates, it is also possible to book individual workshops.
