P&P LIVE! 2023 Review Did you manage to explore it all?

Printwear & Promotion LIVE! is always a hotbed when it comes to new garment decoration equipment launches. At the exhibition in February, there were countless product launches and releases to tantalise the tastebuds of any decorator looking to purchase some new kit. Over the next few pages we take a look at some of these innovative products.

N

ews of some the exciting equipment launches at this year’s exhibition were kept under wraps until the very week before the opening of the show on

Sunday, February 26.

Everything from advancements in embroidery machines to the very latest developments in direct to film printing were on display and demonstrated live. So, let’s take a whistle stop tour of what you might have seen or maybe even missed during your time at P&P LIVE!

Direct to film printing…

We all know that direct to film printing exploded onto the scene during the COVID-19 pandemic with modified direct to garment printers and Chinese imports flooding the market. This was evident at the 2022 exhibition in April when this technology was beginning to enter the mainstream. Fast-forward 10 months to February 2023 and this year’s exhibition saw manufacturers such as Mimaki, Brother and Roland DG all looking to introduce their DTF models to excited crowds.

News of the Mimaki TxF150-75’s presence at P&P LIVE! was only announced on Wednesday, February 22 – four days before the opening of the show. The DTF inkjet printer responds to the market need for a reliable, stable DTF technology and features a built-in ink circulation system and degassed ink pack design help prevent common DTF issues. This machine garnered a lot of interest on the Xpres stand.

As well as this printer, Xpres also showcased another two DTF models – the Xpres DTF Q0-T and Q1-T printers. Keen to show that they are not being left behind in the DTF stakes, Brother showcased a pre-production model of the new GTX DTF R2R machine on the MHM Direct GB stand. This machine prints roll to roll, producing high-quality prints which can be pressed on to a wide range of materials, including polyester, leather and more. It is expected that this DTF printer will become commercially available within the next six to eight weeks, so keep your eyes peeled.

Roland DG also showcased for the very first time at the exhibition its own direct to film solution. The VersaSTUDIO BN-20D is equipped with high-definition print heads and can transfer onto an array of light and dark fabrics to produce a variety of garments. It is compact in size and is most suited to small to medium-sized print shops, apparel businesses and start-ups.

Over on TheMagicTouch stand, visitors could see the new DTFMagic desktop machine in action. This sheet fed printer features the latest in digital transfer technology. It
