Hello, and welcome to another issue of Park World. Well then… IAAPA – what can I say! As a first- time visitor, I was properly blown away by some of the exhibitors. Apart from being literally spun upside-down

at DOF Robotics, my mind was blown by the incredible array of products and concepts on show. Once I got to grips with how the various halls of the RAI linked together, I spent three days merrily flitting back and forth, punching things (games, not people) stealing pens (yes, I know they’re technically free, but you know what I mean) and attending as many of the press conferences as I could physically manage.

Dreamworld,WhiteWaterWorld, SkyPoint, Efteling, Linnanmäki Amusement Park, Toverland and Ripley Entertainment are managing to keep guests entertained while gates are shut. We also hear from Stefano Cigarini, CEO of Cinecittà World in Rome (52-54) and Daan Duijim, director of ooperations and set-up for SunWorld, a series of leading aamusement parks and entertainment complexes in in VVietnam, (pp56-77), while regular contributor Astrid González Nariño gives us an update on the situation in LLatin America (pp60-62).

One of the highlights of the trip for me was attending my first ever Park World Excellence Awards, which was a properly breath-taking event in a stunning location. You can read all about the event and our various winners elsewhere in the issue.

Meanwhile we have another jam-packed issue for you to work through, starting with the always-excellent Susan Storey, who kicks things off with her Park Hoppin’ column before bringing us a report on Skyline Attraction’s SKYnext event.

Among many IAAPA meetings, we caught up with HUPALUPA in Amsterdam, who seem hell bent on redefining family entertainment. Check out our editorial on page 18.

As previously mentioned, we give up a ton of pages this month to the incredible Park World Excellence Awards, so be sure to check out all of our worthy winners. Sadly there wasn’t enough room this month to bring you my own personal diary report on IAAPA Europe, but fear not – I shall be bringing that epic tale to you next month. Wondering how you turn a simple flight from Amsterdam to London into a hellish 18-hour journey the day before you move house? Watch this space! Matt
