Best Ride(s) El Grito Drop Tower
Best Use of Theming Nemesis Reborn
Djurs Sommerland supplied by Funtime, Leisure Expert Group and Petro Art Productions El Grito, a 60-meter drop tower by Funtime, now stands as a significant addition to Djurs Sommerland, marking another successful partnership between Leisure Expert Group and the parkʼs management team. This project is a critical component of the master plan for Mexicoland, strategically enhancing the parkʼs layout and guest experience. The placement of El Grito plays a pivotal role in connecting the northern and southern sections of Mexicoland. This integration promotes cohesiveness across the themed area, drawing guests further into Mexicoland. A redesigned pathway now curves through the area, naturally guiding visitors deeper into the thematic environment. El Gritoʼs boarding station employs thoughtful leveling, establishing
an interesting relationship between riders and non-riders. The gondola, positioned below ground level at its starting point, allows non-riders to peek into a tomb-like area within the station. The Dia de Muertos theme adds a celebratory yet poignant touch that resonates through the queue, boarding station, and gondola, seamlessly blending with the overarching Mexican theme of the area. Beyond its thematic elements and engineering ingenuity, El Grito brings
a new level of thrill to Djurs Sommerland. Its impressive 60-meter height serves not only as a landmark within the park but also stands out in the surrounding region.
Alton Towers supplied by Merlin Magic Making and Bolliger & Mabillard Relaunched in March 2024, Alton Towersʼ Nemesis Reborn implemented a range of innovative theming to significantly improve guest experience, reigniting the legend of Nemesis with visitors. From the brief, concept to execution, each touchpoint was painstakingly assessed by Alton Towers Resort, resulting in a ride that resonates with thrillseekers from across the globe. The Brief: Revitalise Nemesis, a beloved roller coaster at Alton
Towers with a concept that delivers an iconic immersive experience that resonates strongly with loyal fans while creating an intriguing and multi-layered entry point for new audiences. The Concept: Once upon a time, the Nemesis Creature was
discovered and was contained by a military organisation called the Phalanx. Every day since 1994, civilians would joy ride on its tentacles, driving the creature crazy. It has now broken free from its containment and threatens to destroy not just Alton Towers but the world as we know it. The entire facility is under threat and civilians are getting twisted, turned upside down and consumed by Nemesis.
Best Food or Retail Development In Den Swarte Kat
Efteling In den Swarte Kat, the atmospheric grocery store of the Charlatans, officially opened its doors on July 1. Niels van der Schans is responsible for the tavern In den Swarte Kat. He could hardly wait for the first
guests to come shopping in the grocery store. Niels: “A new location like this in the Efteling is always exciting. Especially now that we are also launching a different catering formula here, where the guest can choose and pay for the desired products themselves. “In den Swarte Kat used to be an inn, hidden deep in the woods. Until many a pilgrim disappeared
there in the depths of the night. The inn partially burned down, and the old taproom filled up with spiders and other small creatures. In the remains of this half-collapsed building, the Charlatans have started an atmospheric grocery store from which they sell various good luck charms, heart strengtheners and other courage-enhancing items to encourage the nervous but curious fortune seekers of this area.”
