2024 Park World Excellence Awards in Amserdam. S
ince its inception in 2018, the Park World Excellence Awards has firmly established itself as the leading industry awards scheme for the EMEA region, garnering huge respect for its identification and celebration of best-in- class entertainment destinations, projects, products and people. Organised by Datateam Media, the awards
took place at the stunning Renaissance Koepelkerk in Amsterdam on Wednesday September 25th, recognizing the outstanding work of global manufacturers and suppliers working on projects across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. The awards began with the Best Roller Coaster
of the Year, which was won by Hyperia - Thorpe Park supplied by MACKRides. The second award of the night recognised
Azurgo - Familypark supplied by ART Engineering Limited with the Best Ride(s) – Limited Budget of the Year trophy. Next up was the award for Best Water Park Experience, taken home this year by Icon Tower - Meryal Waterpark supplied by WhiteWater. This was followed by the Bets Ride(s) of the
Year, ultimately won by El Grito Drop Tower- Djurs Sommerland, supplied by Funtime, Leisure Expert Group and Petro Art Productions. Next in the ceremony was the award for Best
Large Park of the Year. This was won by the outstanding Europa-Park. The FEC Project of the Year was next on the agency, taken home by Monaco & The Provence- Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg supplied by Miniatur Wunderland Hamburg. This brought us to FEC of the Year, a hotly
Next up was Best Live Entertainment of the
Year. This award went to El Sueño de Toledo : new scene from the 1920s, the “Spanish Silver Age”- Puy du Fou España supplied by Puy du Fou International. Best Product Innovation (guest experience/
park operations) of the Year was next on the programme, being picked up by the excellent Enhancing accessibility for deaf visitors - LEGOLAND Windsor, Thorpe Park, Alton Towers, supplied by SignLive. Best Green Initiative of the Year was next, won
by Plastic Free Oceans - PortAventura World. This brought us to the Best Product Innovation
contested awards, ultimately won by Gravity Max (Liverpool). Next up was Best Use of Theming of the Year, awarded on the night to Nemesis Reborn - Alton Towers supplied by Merlin Magic Making and Bolliger & Mabillard. Emerald Park walked away with the Best Regional Park of the Year award, followed by Hickhack um die Harzburg - HarzVenture supplied by Attraktion! that took home the Best Dark Ride or Media-Based Attraction of the Year trophy. Best Waterpark of the Year was next on
the schedule, won by the outstanding Meryal Waterpark. This brought us to the halfway mark, as
we looked to reward the Best Marketing Initiative of the Year. After two worthy “highly recommended” mentions, the trophy went to Pleasure Beach Resortʼs digital van at Thorpe Park on Hyperiaʼs opening day - Pleasure Beach Blackpool.

budget of the Year, taken home by Ziegelblitz - Jaderpark supplied by Gerstlauer Amusement Rides.
WhiteWater enjoyed the spoils of the Best Supplier of the Year award, followed by In den Swarte Kat – Efteling, who took home the new Best Food or Retail Development award. Next was the Industry Icon (Operator), which
recognised the incredible career of Wolfgang Kiessling. The penultimate award - Industry Icon (Supplier) – went to Benoit Cornet, leaving just one award. The final award of the night - Best of the Best
– was a fiercely contested award, but ultimately went to the ever-impressive Siam Park, concluding an incredible night of food, drink, entertainment, networking and – of course – some very happy winners!
