Water Rides
Making waterking w te memorable
Csaba Holcz, marketing manager at Hungary-based Eleven Ltd., tells Park World why a water park offers more than refreshment; it gives us memories made in water.
P
ools and water can be anywhere, but to make the day memorable, Eleven Ltd. focuses on interactivity and the atmosphere when designing attractions. A waterpark offers more than refreshment; it gives us
memories made in water with our family and friends. With the right attractions, guests can playfully test their skills in an environment that can be found nowhere else. Two major current trends that we’re observing within the water rides and
water parks sector are those of sustainability and IT. We have seen how energy prices have increased and how concerned operators are about it. We must pay attention to this as high operating costs are now even more noticeable to our customers. Regarding IT, electronics and water mix well in this industry; for example,
social media sharing with photos is essential for guests. Slides can offer multimedia experiences and even additional profits with the right tools. We offer an integrated slide electronic system to renew existing slides and
increase safety and profitability. More and more slides are being built, but at some point, a facility must focus on what they already have. Hand-pump attractions or spray parks that do not require pools and may
consume less water are also available in our portfolio. As more and more water parks are being built, the question of what makes each unique is also increasingly significant. Proper maintenance can also help reduce upkeep costs, so this is another area we are working on as something new to help operators.
OCTOBER 2023 There are always challenges to be aware of in this sector, and safety and
budgeting are two of the most significant ones. On water slides, you move fast; this is part of the fun, but also the risk, so our team always adds a safety system to the offer. On the other hand, in spray parks, slipping and moving have different meanings. Here, we can let loose our imagination but always within the boundaries of safety and current regulations. The summer season in Hungary is short, energy prices have increased, and
every water park wants to remain competitive and attract visitors even from abroad. A theme park can be open in the autumn, but water parks close early here and must earn enough for their business in about four months. It is an unwritten rule that operators must introduce some novelty every two
to three years to keep guests coming for more. Integrating light effects and speedometers on existing slides are good options. Sometimes, however, you must let go of attractions with outdated technical equipment. You can save more long-term, even if it is costly in the immediate term. At Eleven, we like to do our homework when creating new themes. We
research the local history, landscape, and attractions to match the new play area with something unique to the local area and is familiar to guests in this way. Our plans must also cater to all age groups, so no family member feels bored or left out. Offering development in multiple phases can also help when it comes to
budget, and can keep a water park constantly fresh. There will always be something new to talk about.
