Here are all the highlights from the 2023 Park World Excellence Awards in Vienna
W
ednesday 27 September saw the return of the Park World Excellence Awards for 2023, taking place at The Palais Berg in the centre of Austria’s stunning capital city, Vienna.
Organised by Datateam Business Media, the evening event
brought together some of the best premier operators, suppliers, manufacturers and entertainment specialists from across Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
The awards ceremony began with the Best Roller Coaster of the
Year, which was won by Batman Gotham City Escape- LSM Multi Launch Coaster at Parque Warner Madrid supplied by Intamin. This was followed by the Best Ride(s) of the Year – Limited
Budget which was awarded to Deep In Africa: Adventure Trails at Phantasialand supplied by Phantasialand, Universal Rocks. The Best Waterpark Experience was awarded to Vikingløp | ProSlide
RallyRACER at Rulantica supplied by ProSlide Technology. Next came the Best Ride(s) of the Year which was won by Avalon The
Next Chapter at Toverland supplied by Intamin, Zamperla, Gerstlauer, Metallbau Emmeln. This was followed by the Best Large Park of the Year which was taken
home by Parc Asterix. LasseMajas Deckarhus at Linköping by LasseMajas Deckarhus AB
were the winners of the Best FEC project of the Year and Adrenark Adventure took home the FEC of the Year trophy. SeaWorld Yas Island, Abu Dhabi won the award for the Best Use of
Theming and Toverland were the winners in the Best Regional Park of the Year category. This was followed by the Best Dark Ride or Media-based Attraction
of the Year, which was won by Hypersphere 360° at SeaWorld Abu Dhabi supplied by Attraktion! GmbH & Intamin Amusement Rides. Rulantica won the award for the Best Waterpark of the Year; then
came the Best Marketing Initiative of the Year which was taken home by Overdrive / AGV Dark Ride Marketing Campaign – Simworx. The Best Live Entertainment of the Year award went to Le Mime et
l’Étoile by Puy Du Fou and the Best Product Innovation (guest experience/ park operations) of the Year was presented to CmdCentr – theme park training and ride operations software by First Option Software. This year, PortAventura Solar by PortAventura World won the Best
Green Initiative of the Year award and the trophy for the Best Product Innovation (rides, shows, activities, games, play) of the year award went home with Eatrenalin by Europa-Park supplied by MACK Rides. Best Rollercoaster – Limited Budget of the Year was won by Family
Launch Coaster ‘Lightning’– Furuvik supplied by Vekoma Rides. This was followed by the Best Supplier of the Year award which was awarded to Intamin Amusement Rides. Next came the two Industry Icon Awards. Laurent Albert from Puy
du Fou took home the Industry Icon (Operator) award and John Wood from Sally Dark Rides took home the Industry Icon (Supplier) award. The final award of the evening was the Best of the Best Award which was won by Liseberg park.
