Attraktion! launches Angry Birds free roam gaming experience

P

igvasion, the first Angry Birds free roaming group gaming experience based on characters and environments from the Angry Birds movies, launched at IAAPA Expo Europe where it could be played in full on the Attraktion! booth. The game has been created by Attraktion! for its PLAYNEO game system, in partnership with Angry Birds’ creator Rovio Entertainment Corporation, in a deal facilitated by Angry Birds’ global licensing agency IMG.

In the fun gaming experience, players embark on a mission to help Red (leader of the Angry Birds’ flock) recover stolen eggs from mischievous pigs. Drawing inspiration from the visually stunning Angry Birds Movies, Pigvasion offers an immersive, fast-paced gameplay that defies the typical mobile gaming experience scaled up for entertainment venues. PLAYNEO is a free roam group gaming concept that uses immersive 270° projection environments, rather than VR headsets, to create spaces that truly enable group interaction for 4 – 16 players through three configuration options – Box, Trapeze and 360 Layout, making them ideal for FECs, lobby experiences and shopping malls.

Unlike VR games, PLAYNEO does not require any special glasses, so guests can move freely around the space, with interactivity features on every surface. This is why PLAYNEO is especially great for connecting people and families in one interactive experience together.

The innovation at the heart of PLAYNEO is Attraktion!´s proprietary and patented Active Shield, a handheld interactive device that players carry with them to trigger the events on the immersive, digital canvas. Guests can roam freely in the virtual space, working together or competitively to score points and reach their ultimate goal.

With no VR headsets, wearable devices or other consumables, health, safety and hygiene

are all simplified, so PLAYNEO is an operator-less experience. Real-time gameplay media ensures that every experience is different based on the decisions and actions of the players, driving repeat footfall. Katri Chacona, head of brand licensing at Rovio says: “We are thrilled to launch a new action packed game with Attraktion! which allows fans to step into the environments from the popular Angry Birds movie. It has been a fantastic collaboration with focus on properly representing the brand, perfecting the finest details and elements to deliver a high quality and one-of-a-kind experience.” Markus Beyr, CEO of Attraktion! said: “The Angry Birds IP is perfect for the PLAYNEO experience, with the high-octane game from Rovio brought to life for groups to experience together.”

“The PLAYNEO interactive gaming universes are taking out-of-home group gaming to the next level through shared immersive experiences, rather than VR headsets. This enhanced connection is what creates memorable engagements for guests and encourages them to keep coming back to beat their previous scores and unlock the next part of the thrilling adventure.”

Multiple PLAYNEO games are available from the Attraktion! library including Jelly Attack and Dino Dig, with more in development. Pigvasion is officially available in October and will be launching at inaugural venues in the United States, Austria, Germany, and the United Arab Emirates.
