Water Rides
Wonderful water
As a supplier of water shows and special water effects, Aquatique Show speaks on the ability of water to amaze, inspire and seduce the senses
W
ater seduces. Who hasn’t stopped in front of a waterfall to contemplate the falling and splashing water while admiring the reflections of light, making it sometimes opaque, sometimes
transparent? This natural element seduces all the senses, and it is clearly a source of
success in the entertainment and leisure sector. For several years, large amusement parks which already offered water
attractions have developed a range of ‘annex’ parks entirely dedicated to water. Very early on, these developments prompted the French company Aquatique
Show to imagine new ways of playing with water. Created in the 1970s, Aquatique Show became the specialist in water shows
and very quickly collaborated with amusement parks to offer them lasting shows. In addition to the advantage of having a fully automated show with minimal maintenance, the choice of a permanent water show has allowed certain parks to offer their visitors a real leisure offer for the evening, making it possible to increase opening hours to the public. The company is present in numerous parks such as Universal Studios in
Orlando USA, Puy du Fou in France or Europa Park in Germany. In this last park, Aquatique Show created and installed a permanent show
in 2022 for the ‘Josefinas kaiserliche Zauberreise’ attraction. The show is surrounded by special water effects that entertain visitors during a boat ride on the lake of the area dedicated to the famous empress. There we discover a swan with water wings, water tunnels, a porcelain service from which small waterfalls flow, and the statue of Josephine dressed in a water dress in the middle of water lilies with thousand jets. This installation made it possible to pool the effects of the water show with the special effects of the boat ride to present on a single site, a wonderful immersive daytime attraction and a grandiose nighttime show. In recent years, the big trend in amusement parks, especially in water parks,
is towards interactivity and immersive shows. The visitor’s desire to be able to participate and interact is indeed more and more marked. For years, the company Aquatique Show has been developing specific water effects, which can be remotely controlled using all kinds of interfaces.
38 OCTOBER 2023 Between 2014 and 2017, it was Autostadt, the leisure and entertainment
park of the Volkswagen company in Wolfsburg, which chose Aquatique Show, in collaboration with the developers and architects of Studio Wehberg in Hamburg, to create such interactive water games. Rotating jets activated by turnstiles, hopscotches that control a water show, or
an impressive twenty-meter-long water tunnel have transformed the park into a real water playground. Aquatique Show is now considering new water jets that can still receive light,
but also be a vector of media content. The company is developing new effects to diversify the figures of its water
ballets and is investing in new motorizations for its water jets to increase the possibilities of movement, while continuing to choose materials that do not alter the water, closed circuit operation so as not to waste it. Theme parks must take up the challenge of sustainability and Aquatique Show has welcomed and integrated this new challenge.
