n 2023, the amusement park industry in Latin America continued to record significant growth figures, and
the economic crisis that affects the southern nation.
entrepreneurs have made important efforts that leave the consequences of the pandemic forgotten. According to IAAPA, an 18% increase in park attendance in the region and a 23% increase in visitor spending is expected this year. Brazil continues to lead the industry,
both in the number of establishments in operation and in the number of new parks. Mexico follows, although with more difficulties derived from little government support, and then there is Colombia, which registered very relevant figures in 2023, both in the number of visitors and in the opening of new parks. Argentina, for its part, has managed to return to pre-pandemic behavior, despite
IAAPA: an optimistic market Very optimistic about the future of the parks industry in Latin America was Paulina Reyes, Vice President and Executive Director of IAAPA for Latin America and the Caribbean, who pointed out that projections indicate that the region will grow by 18 percent in attendance and by 23 percent in revenue. He said that the leading countries in Latin America, in terms of amusement parks, are Mexico, Brazil and Colombia. He stated that Brazil is doing incredibly well: “the way the industry is developing there is impressive, the number of investments we are seeing in water parks, attractions, and theme parks. We see that the market is doing very well there.”

He added that in Brazil, themed hotels
are expanding, which is a trend that has been consolidating in other latitudes and is being implemented in Latin America. “This helps extend the stay and complements the park,” argued Reyes. The Vice President and Executive
Director of IAAPA for the region also highlighted the investments in Mexico such as the Vidanta Group park, which is being built in conjunction with the Cirque du Soleil, whose name will be “Vidanta World”; its start-up is scheduled for the first semester of 2024, and will be located in Puerto Vallarta. Likewise, he mentioned the upcoming inauguration of Aztlan, a new park that will be located in Mexico City, which will open in early 2024.
