MONTIC – Unique Leisure Systems M
ONTIC is an engineering company founded in 1995 in Hamburg, Germany - during the global thrill-
ride boom. Alongside high-rise steel construction, winch engineering, and restraint manufacturing, our core focus is inventing unique ride concepts. Unlike many ride firms, MONTIC doesn’t just build what technology allows. We start with the ride feeling - often inspired by sports and leisure activities that require training - and translate it into a safe, repeatable experience for untrained guests using proven technical components.
Patrick Fischer, General manager of MONTIC Unique Leisure Rides
At that time, bungee jumping was booming
worldwide - a thrilling but niche activity. Low capacity, consumable costs, and manual operation limited bungee’s scalability as a park attraction.
Early on, MONTIC developed bungee, swing, and fun-ride concepts before inventing the world’s first true free-fall ride for amateurs: the SCAD Dive, launched in 1997.
MONTIC aimed to transform extreme thrill activities like bungee and base jumping into economically viable, high-capacity, and safe rides. Creating a safe free-fall ride without tethers for untrained guests was a major milestone. Over 15 years, SCAD operated in 50+ countries, with hundreds of towers at major events - until the thrill-ride boom cooled. As the market shifted, MONTIC embraced
interactivity. Inspired by paragliding’s soaring, turns, climbs, and swings, we created the AIRGLIDER: a modular, short-range cable ride with interactive open-vehicle concepts. Unlike long zip lines, AIRGLIDER offers flexible installations and efficient reuse of cable spans. We see true interactivity as underdeveloped in amusement rides, despite classics like bumper cars. While the industry chases capacity via coasters, MONTIC rejects the idea that interactivity sacrifices throughput or safety. We believe untapped potential remains in translating new ride experiences into compelling, park-ready attractions. Today, MONTIC is reviving the SCAD Dive
with a new design: higher capacity (up to 500 guests per hour), semi-automated operation, electronic safety monitoring, and tandem free- fall experiences. We also welcome ambitious ride ideas
from park owners. With nearly 30 years’ hands-on experience, we’ve delivered custom rides, glass-floor walks, mobile event setups, and major towers, and offer fast, empathetic, non-binding consultation for high-rise custom projects.
