MARKET REPORT: LATIN AMERICA

Centre Pompidou in Latin America. The architectural project for the Brazilian branch of the French museum alone represents an investment of approximately US$50 million. Construction has already begun, and the opening is scheduled for September 2027. Another of the most popular destinations

for foreign visitors in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro gained the Rio Olympic Museum last year, offering a wide range of interactive experiences and more than a thousand original pieces used in the Rio 2016 Games, such as medals and uniforms. There are 13 thematic areas dedicated to the 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games, mainly exploring the legacy for the city of Rio de Janeiro.

Continental Dimensions Although a large portion of investments in parks and attractions are concentrated in the South and Southeast of Brazil, there are new developments in other regions, such as the Northeast. Last April, Pernambuco gained the Acquaventura water park, with more than 55,000 square meters and the main attractions of this type of equipment, with a river with 480 meters of rapids and several water slides. The venture belongs to the Brazilian group Gramado Parks, owner of the first snow park in Brazil, Snowland Gramado, in the south of the country. The group announced the construction of a second snow park, this time in São Paulo, scheduled to open in 2027.

The Northeast also gained the region’s

first large-scale Ferris wheel, in Maceió, the capital of Alagoas. The Roda Maceió is 45 meters high and is operated by the Interparques group, owner of similar attractions in São Paulo, Balneário Camboriú and Canela, in different Brazilian states. Another park inaugurated in the second half of last year was the Dreams Complex, in the interior of São Paulo. The complex features a miniature park, a wax museum, and a dinosaur museum, the first in the region. Another novelty in the Brazilian

attractions scene in 2025 was the opening of the Super Gyro Tower, a rotating observation tower installed in Unipraiais Park, in Santa Catarina. The 53- meter-high tower was built on Morro da Aguada, 240 meters above sea level. With slow movements, the tower allows for the contemplation of the entire city, its beaches, and the Atlantic Ocean. “The air- conditioned cabin offers panoramic views with a gentle 360-degree rotation, ensuring that every one of its 50 passengers is treated to uninterrupted and ever-changing scenery throughout the experience,” explains Intamin, the equipment manufacturer. Brazil’s most traditional parks are also

investing in renovations. This is the case with Beto Carrero World, the most visited theme park in Latin America, according to the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA Index) ranking. Last year, the park inaugurated Hot Wheels Turbo Drive,

which puts visitors behind the wheel of themed cars on a challenging circuit. Among the water parks, Thermas dos

Laranjais, also the most visited water park in Latin America, is preparing to inaugurate a large-scale attraction, the Nações ride and its super Anaconda water slide, from the Canadian manufacturer WhiteWater. The attraction cost approximately US$10 million and includes two radical water slides and a 33-meter-high tower. Divided into two wings, one of them features the Anaconda water slide, with a diameter of 9.2 meters, making it one of the largest of its kind in the world. With its opening scheduled for 2027, Cacau Park, located in the interior of São Paulo state, is progressing with the construction that will transform it into the largest park in Latin America, with over 100 attractions. At the last IAAPA Expo in Orlando, the park’s founder, Alê Costa, visited the booths of the largest attraction manufacturers and announced the purchase of the first Flying Theater in Brazil, from Brogent, Taiwan. While it continues to grow, other parks are set to open in Brazil, such as Sítio do Pica-Pau Amarelo, which opened in December, also in the interior of São Paulo, and Vila dos Smurfs, in the state capital, scheduled to open this semester.

Chile and Argentina Chile’s main theme park, Fantasilandia, is making history with the Cyclone 360 hybrid roller coaster. Made of steel and wood, the roller coaster offers extreme spins, vertical drops, and the sensation of flying throughout the ride. The height reaches 50 meters, and the speed reaches 100 km/h. The park has also expanded its water entertainment area, including giant water slides and interactive games. “With these innovations, we want to position Fantasilandia as the main fun destination in South America,” said director Javier Méndez. In Argentina, Parque de la Costa is betting on virtual reality to renovate its attractions, launching Aventura Andina,
