y now, the flying theatre format is well established as an evergreen experience in theme parks, not to mention the king of the media attractions genre. Much like a roller coaster or a wild water ride, more and more

operators are seeing the format as a must-have attraction. So, what is it that makes the flying theatre experience so special? First, the flying theatre is loved by people of all ages. At its core, the flying

theatre creates gentle movement to simulate the real soaring experience, whilst it is also capable of creating an element of thrill with steep turns and falling movements. Brogent’s patented motion platform is designed to generate the smoothest and most agile movements to fulfil every motion needed - from gliding to falling. Second, and unlike other more traditional attractions, the flying theatre is able

to play with content, allowing guests to enjoy new experiences and increasing the re-visit rate. A successful flying theatre depends not only on state-of-the-art hardware but also on the quality and variety of content available. Brogent’s systems are designed to allow maximum content flexibility, so content can be refreshed easily and audience engagement maintained. A Brogent flying theatre is suitable for media content from abundant landscapes to computer-generated imagery which can also feature popular IP. Beyond cooperating with specialist studios, Brogent has also been investing in the production of cutting-edge media content including aerial filming and CGI.

More immersive than ever The advanced AV system is a key factor in the success of Brogent’s flying theatres. The traditional cinematic projection has several disadvantages, such as the inability to project true black colour and contrast. With this in mind, and to strengthen our flying theatre products, we collaborate with experienced LED manufacturers to produce customised double-curved LED displays. These offer the audience the best relative angle to the screen, which generates unprecedented colours, brightness, and contrast. As for audio, Brogent is always searching for and testing different ways to enhance the overall experience. For instance, the places where we put the speakers and how we utilise vibration to intensify

the feeling of presence are new areas of focus. These improvements eliminate previous limitations and bring new experiences to make Brogent flying theatre experiences more immersive than ever. LED innovations are currently hitting media-based attractions, and not only in

the theme park industry but also in the giant screen world in general. It delivers better results when it comes to resolution, brightness, and contrast. Moreover, perforated LED panels allow sound to pass through the screen to every corner of the theatre, which creates a more ‘surrounded’ cinematic sound effect during the flight. Concerning LED technology, Brogent showcased a racing simulator with an

LED dome screen at IAAPA in Orlando last year, and has opened a 4D cinema with an LED screen in Taiwan. We are expected to see a Brogent Flying Theatre with an LED screen opening in a theme park very soon.

Beyond the theme park market, there are also many standalone attractions and even FECs showing a strong demand for flying theatres. However, it is evident within the current marketplace that there are not enough product choices. For example, a flying theatre often needs huge space in terms of width, depth, and height. Budget is another major barrier. To address this, Brogent has built a complete product line of flying theatres with different specifications to suit different operator requirements. When it comes to client demands, it is also worth mentioning our modular

system. This brings the ability to deliver unique and customised designs for our clients whereby we can create the ride system according to different spaces. This advantage also applies operationally. Maintenance is a major point that affects clients’ decisions, and thanks to a modular design, operators spend less time and money on maintenance and operation. In addition, we see more and more flying films entering the marketplace, giving operators even greater flexibility. Brogent’s latest projects in New York and Chicago are good examples: two

completely different ride systems – i-Ride and m-Ride – with gondolas and seat arrangements that are purposely designed to fit existing spaces.
