BoldMove Nation transforms dark rides into iconic landmarks

W

ith the first Smash & Reload ride installation nearing its completion in Le Pal park in France, BoldMove Nation has announced an iconic movable version of its compact (XXS) ride. Compared to its bigger brother, the ‘Original’, the XXS is designed to be built as an eye-catching stand-alone version outside, or inside a building. This addresses the increasing demand to attract and retain visitors with exciting on-location family experiences.

The Smash & Reload dark ride can be featured in FECs, leisure venues, outlets or shopping malls, besides its mainstream clientele comprising attraction parks, holiday resorts and zoos.

The circular form of the XXS with its centralised technology hub, allows for an easy installation, maintenance and smooth operation. The attraction can also be taken down and re-assembled at another venue for seasonal events or in between premises.

Smash & Reload is a double action fun interactive dark ride with TooMush theming, designed and developed by BoldMove Nation's CEO Benoit Cornet. Players aim with their 'cuber' at the hilarious mushrooms, cooling them down across four scenes. Alternatively, a Western version featuring the Dalton brothers, or a customised IP can be created. Seasoned expert partner Polymorph designs the media content and streamlines all gameplay into a fun and immersive experience that can be enjoyed by young and old.

On a compact footprint of only 144 square metres, this attraction can entertain up to 400 persons per hour in rotatable vehicles, each seating 6 persons. The high-quality ride system with powerful show control and interactive technology, manufactured and installed by Triotech, is based on proven award-winning attractions across the globe. All light, audio, vehicles, decoration and props are perfectly aligned for smooth operations and unforgettable family experiences.

Benoit Cornet, CEO at BoldMove Nation, comments: “What makes this attraction so unique is that it offers a top quality ride system and media on a very compact space at an affordable price. The XXS version is really meant to bring life into large indoor premises as we see those being increasingly present all over the world.

“Triotech's worldwide presence provides a full geographical coverage, whilst BoldMove's ubiquitous approach to design and gameplay ensures it fits local traditions and culture. The addition of this new ‘movable’ option opens exciting perspectives for a more flexible approach.”

Except for the reduced footprint, this ultra compact dark ride features all the innovative and optimised characteristics of the larger version, which opens this spring under the name of Champi'Folies in Le Pal, France, with TooMush theming, an incredibly strong alliance of technology, and design expertise by BoldMove Nation and Triotech. The ride offers a breath-taking experience filled with action, and merges high-level media content with an amazing 3D themed environment.

Alton Towers reveals opening date of new dark ride

The Curse at Alton Manor, Alton Towers’ haunting new dark ride, is set to open its doors on 18 March, taking visitors on a hair-raising journey through the spectacular twists and turns of the cursed Manor. Alton Towers announced the opening date via the world’s first pop-up haunted doll’s house, where guests searched for creepy clues to find out more about what the dark ride will offer.

The eerie experience ended with the first sighting of Emily Alton, the child from Alton Towers’ original haunted house, which first opened in 1992. “The British public remain gripped by a desire to be shocked and surprised,” said Bianca Sammut, Alton Towers Resort‘s divisional director. “We hope we haven’t given too many people nightmares with their first taste of The Curse at Alton Manor and their introduction to Emily.” The mysterious attraction appeared at the Isle of Dogs in London. Visitors enjoyed a series of sinister messages written across a dark corridor and were chased by a ‘giant mangled teddy’.

The Curse at Alton Manor will use special effects and visuals never before seen in a UK theme park. These include petrifying projection mapping technology that will put riders inside Emily’s own doll’s house, as well as mirrors that play tricks and blur the line between reality and the child’s demonic world.
