CHILE SCJ cancels offers for casino in Puerto Varas
Chile’s gambling regulator, The Superintendence of Gaming Casinos (SCJ) has informed that through Exempt Resolutions No. 821 and No. 822, both dated August 11, 2026 and published in the Official Gazette on August 18, the decision of the SCJ’s Resolution Council to end evaluations of the technical offers presented by Inversiones y Turismo Puerto Varas S.A. and by Sociedad Quiquilhue S.A., within the framework of the process of granting a permit to operate gambling casinos for the city of Puerto Varas.
The decisions adopted by SCJ are based on the fact that the applicant companies did not fully comply with the legal and regulatory requirements established in the Technical Bases that govern casino licensing processes.
In accordance with current regulations, non-compliance with these requirements constitutes immediate cause for ending the technical evaluation stage without awarding a casino permit, and this is the reason why the Resolution Council decided to terminate the respective evaluations and declare both process applications void.
Consequently, SCJ has indicated that it will initiate a new casino licensing process for Puerto Varas city, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 19,995 and its regulatory norms, redefining the special conditions that will be incorporated into the Technical Bases part of the process.
