MACAU BUSINESS
T
he region’s flagship casino trade show, Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Asia, returns to Macau this month alongside its non-gaming companion, the Asian IR Expo, as organisers lean into rising demand for non- gaming and high-tech content from artificial intelligence (AI) to robotics.
Organised by RX (Reed Exhibitions) and presented by the American Gaming Association, the twin events will run from 12 to 14 May at The Venetian Macao. The 2026 edition will cover more than 30,000 square metres, with around 150 exhibitors across gaming and non-gaming segments.
The organisers expect about 8,000 visitors from more than 90 countries and regions this year, roughly a third more than last year’s 6,000. Even so, attendance remains well below the tally of 18,000 visitors in 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic.
Beyond the exhibition floor, the shows will continue to stage two conference programmes — the G2E Asia Conference and the Asian IR Summit — featuring around 50 speakers across more than 30 panels and keynote sessions. “With the industry increasingly focused on digital innovation, we are placing a greater strategic emphasis on high-technology solutions and non-gaming diversification [this year],” said Yip Je Choong, senior vice president for commercial of Asia Pacific at RX.

“While gaming remains an important foundation, this edition will expand into artificial intelligence, robotics, digital innovation, entertainment technology and sport-related initiatives,” he continued. “These developments not only reflect the evolving integrated resort industry but also support Macau’s long-term development direction, a vision we are committed to advancing together.”
AI AND ROBOTICS
This year’s headline themes are “AI, Robotics and New Digital Innovations for the Gaming Floor” at G2E Asia and “Entertainment Technology” at the Asian IR Expo. New features include a Display for Gaming Zone and a Gaming Entertainment Zone showcasing digital products, alongside an expanded Technology Zone focused on non-gaming applications within integrated resorts.
Live demonstrations of hospitality automation
are also expected on the exhibition floor, as well as AI-powered business matchmaking, interactive experiences such as robot-served coffee and cocktails, and live robotic performances.
G2E Asia marks its 17th edition since debuting in Macau in 2007, and the fourth year it has been staged alongside the Asian IR Expo, which spotlights technology solutions for integrated resorts, live entertainment tech, sports, hotel design and décor, equipment and green supplies, as well as wine and spirits. Around 65 per cent of participants in previous editions were international attendees, the organisers said.
MEET INDUSTRY DEMANDS Asked about the logic of pairing the two shows starting from 2023, Vera Ng, project director at RX, said the broader non-gaming programming reflects what integrated resort operators across
