intended to have far-reaching effects on everyday tipped workers in dozens of industries, including several casino categories.
Eligible employees could deduct up to $25,000 of qualified tip income, including casino chips, from their federal income taxes. Depending on the individual situation, this alone could potentially drop the average worker into a lower tax bracket. The second, and some feel the most impactful,
allows eligible workers to deduct up to $12,500 for single filers-$25,000 for joint filers-on overtime. We all know that casinos are prime 24-hour locations where overtime is a routine occurrence and workers could cash in on this economic break. So, how did it work out in tax year one? While final figures are incomplete, there is much early data.
