INEC reports 11.3% growth in the betting sector
The Gross Gaming Revenue chart for gambling operations (in thousands of balboas) under Main Monthly Indicators for Q1 2025, published by the National Institute of Statistics and Census (INEC), a dependency of the Comptroller General of the Republic of Panama, indicates a 10.1% growth in all gambling and betting activities that totalled B/.671,707 million for Q1-2025, compared to B/. 603,546 million for the equivalent period of 2024, During Q1 2025, the highest growth in the sector was in online games gambling with B/. 106.1 million, at 47.7%, compared to B/. 71.9 million (2024). Gross lottery revenues (tickets and scratch cards) reached B/. 206.6 million, an increase of 4.0%, compared to B/. 198.7 million for the same period in the previous year. Likewise, type “A” slot machines registered GGR at B/. 516.6 million, an increase of 7.3%, compared to $481.7 million in 2024.
Otherwise, the betting on the gaming tables totalled B/. 35.0 million, a decrease of -0.6%, against B/. 35.2 million in 2024; likewise, bets at the racetracks also fell by -7.0%, with revenues of B/. 7.3 million compared to B/. 7.8 million registered in 2024.

El cuadro de las Ventas de lotería brutas y apuestas brutas de los operadores de juegos de suerte y azar (en miles de balboas) bajo Principales Indicadores Mensuales para el T1 2025, del Instituto Nacional de Estadística y Censo (INEC), dependencia de la Contraloría General de la República de Panamá, indica un crecimiento del 10,1% en las actividades de juegos de suerte y azar que totalizaron B/.671.707 millones para T1-2025, comparado con B/. 603.546 millones para el periodo equivalente de 2024,
Durante T1 2025, el mayor crecimiento en el sector lo tuvo juegos de suerte y azar online con B/. 106.1 millones, un crecimiento del 47.7%, respecto a B/. 71.9 millones (2024).
Por su parte, los ingresos brutos de lotería (billetes y chances) alcanzaron los B/. 206.6 millones, un alza del 4.0%, en comparación a los B/. 198.7 millones obtenidos en el mismo periodo del año anterior. Asimismo, en las máquinas tragamonedas tipo “A”, los ingresos fueron de B/. 516.6 millones, un alza del 7.3%, frente a los $481.7 millones del año 2024.
Caso contrario, las apuestas en las mesas de juego totalizaron los B/. 35.0 millones, una disminución de -0.6%, versus los B/. 35.2 millones del 2024; igualmente, las apuestas en el hipódromo también bajaron en -7.0%, con ingresos de B/. 7.3 millones comparados con B/. 7.8 millones registrados en 2024.
