Editor’s comment
Hello and welcome to 2025! Let’s be honest: as soon as the last mince pie was consumed, the dregs of the port were drained (should a bottle last more than two sittings?) and granny had been safely deposited back in her care home for another 363 days, all we could think about was… BARCELONA BABY! Sadly, a quick check of the weather forecast has
revealed that rather than a January tan, all I can look forward to is 14 degrees above freezing (which, in fairness, is about 14 degrees more than it is in the UK right now, so… easy come, easy go). Here at CI we spent most of our December issue banging on about ICE, which you’d be forgiven for thinking would let you off the hook this issue. WRONG! We missed a couple of companies thanks
to the truncated Christmas deadlines, so in this issue we pick up the stragglers in our second ICE preview feature, while also sneaking in the usual excellent editorial you’ve come to know and love. North American editor, Sharon Harris, looks at the implications of Donald
Trump’s return to power, while International Editor, Ricki Chavez-Munoz, brings us the latest from the key LATAM regions. I was about to just talk you through the entire issue, but then realised that 1)
that’s too easy a way for a consummate pro like myself to eat up the word count, 2) it’s mostly redundant because on the opposite side of this comment is a listing that not only tells you what I was about to say, but even tells you the page you need to go to, and 3) I know that what you’re really wondering is ‘what did you get for Christmas Matt?’ Well, thanks for asking. In a nutshell, lots of chocolate liqueurs, far more scented candles than you expect a man in their 50s to receive, and quite a lot of what can only be described as “booze”. In fact, now I’ve thought of it, I’m off to set fire to one of those things, and then consume the others. Let’s hope I don’t get confused along the way or next month there’ll be a new Editor introducing himself and thanking me for all my hard work before ending my own life so unnecessarily. Mind you, those candles do smell delicious. Hmmm… Stay safe.
