GOODBYE 2018…

Jonas Alm CEO, QTech Games

Ali Atam CMO, Videoslots

What was great about 2018? It was yet another record-breaking year for Videoslots. com and the whole team can be proud of their efforts. Once again we have enhanced our reputation as the

What was great about 2018? Mobile growth in Asian and African gaming continued to exceed even our highest expectations at QTech Games – and we were already the fastest-growing distributor in Asia! So, it’s been a very rewarding year on the planet’s largest continents. I feel the early launch of our game-changing cross-provider recommendation app, QT Play, was central to much of that growth, as it is powered by unique machine-learning software that allows users to select any game from any provider, and switch between them at their convenience. QTech players are also recommended further titles well-matched with their personal favourites in order to enhance the overall experience. Nowadays, it’s easy for both players and

operators to feel overwhelmed by the scale of choice and competition among countless game releases. QT Play is the weapon operators need in their armoury, and it’s great to see our breakthrough platform shortlisted at both the recent SBC Awards and the International Gaming Awards 2019 for Asia-Focussed Tech Supplier. It’s a ringing endorsement of our hard-working team.

What were the main challenges facing the industry in 2018? Without wishing to make this sound like a state-the-obvious contest, negotiating changing worldwide legislation, especially in newly regulating territories, is always a potential headache. That said, it’s one well worth getting your head around since the benefits far outweigh the obstacles across multiple emerging markets. QTech Games’ mission statement is to recruit the best (RNG games, gaming studios), and distribute them to the best (operators, suppliers) and that doesn’t change wherever you put the pin on the map. Therefore, we try to keep things simple wherever possible, and I reckon that’s a solid maxim to follow. There’s no point chancing your arm when you already have a platform that delivers. Its ability to distil the prevalent trans-continental variety and parcellate it according to end-user preference

and respective market requirements allows our partners to target any region with precision and confidence.

What are you excited about for 2019? While I’m sure many of your contributors will be banging the post-PASPA drum, at QTech Games we’re interested in the here and now. Not necessarily waiting on a market to fully open up (and the States will certainly take time) but riding on the back of real-time opportunities the moment they reveal themselves. That’s been the story of our success in Asia, and we are already following suit throughout LatAm and Africa – another diverse continent from which we’ve recently returned after the inaugural ICE Africa. After all, player proclivities can differ wildly across these landmasses, so it’s vital to offer a stringent-yet-informed selection process, segmented by country, which aligns with cultural taste, age and gender biases, not to mention aforementioned regulation.

Any personal New Year resolutions you’re happy to share? Away from scaling up QTech Games, the aim is to spend more time with my family. The past year has been pivotal to the company, and great for my airmiles account, but I must be sure to take more time off from sailing the seven seas to drop anchor at home in Sweden. Indeed, maintaining a healthy work-life balance is core to the work ethic we promote at QTech, so I need to set a better example!

biggest online casino in the world and that was highlighted earlier this year when we integrated our 3000th game. We now work with over 100 game suppliers. Our strong portfolio of titles, as well as a huge push from our marketing and content teams, has helped us achieve strong growth in a wide range of markets and long may that continue.

What are you excited about for 2019? There were a lot of reasons to be cheerful for in 2018 and the team has quite rightly celebrated on a number of occasions, including at the Christmas bash! But it’s important to remember that we need to continue our push if we are to cement our place as the industry’s biggest online casino. Plans and strategies to successfully expand into new and regulated markets have already been drawn up, while we are also looking to further enhancing the enjoyment of our players by launching both new desktop and mobile sites designed to be quicker and more engaging than ever before.

Any New Year resolutions you’re happy to share? I think more and more businesses are trying to get that balance between work and family right and ensuring I give both enough of my attention will be my main aim in 2019. While it’s important to work hard and strive to be the best, it’s just as important to rest up and enjoy downtime with friends and family. Videoslots is a great believer in this and I will be working to ensure my colleagues enjoy that same work life balance.
