…HELLO 2017!
Daniel Graetzer, Executive Director MEDIATECH SOLUTIONS
What have been the biggest events for Mediatech in 2016? It has been a transformational year for Mediatech Solutions,
particularly following our acquisition by the R. Franco Group. Since the acquisition, we have been firing on all cylinders, driving the business forward and on to even greater heights. Being able to tap into R. Franco’s market-leading land-based expertise has helped us take major strides with our omni-channel offering, and to deliver our partners the best possible products on the market. In the past 12 months, we have signed several new partners as we
continue to grow the business in established and emerging markets around the world. Other milestones include our IRIS platform passing its system audit by the Malta regulator, exhibiting at a number of industry shows and conferences around the world, and being shortlisted for two prestigious industry awards, the EGR Omni-channel Supplier of the Year and SBC Retail Innovation of the Year.
What do you think was the most important occurrence for the industry in 2016? There has been an accumulation of occurrences that have changed the landscape of the industry this past year, rather than a single seismic event. Regulation has been a key trend, particularly in Europe where a number of interesting markets, including Romania and the Czech Republic, have opened up. The Malta Gaming Authority has also been hard at work simplifying its licensing process, lowering the number of licence classes to two. When they finally flick the switch, it could be a game-changer.
What are you most excited about for the industry in 2017? New markets, particularly in Africa, LatAm, Asia and Eastern Europe. The egaming industry has been growing at a phenomenal pace of late, with new jurisdictions looking to get in on the action. They present a huge opportunity for operators and suppliers plying their trade in more established markets to enter the fray and impart their knowledge and experience in these fledgling markets. It is something we are really excited about, and are looking forward to further expanding our business into these regions over the coming months and years.
What are you most excited about for your own company in 2017? This past year we have streamlined our product portfolio and launched additional products, including IRIS Retail (formerly Candy) IRIS Hub and IRIS Atlas. So we are excited to see how they perform. The most exciting thing, however, is our international growth plans. We have, and continue, to invest heavily in our IRIS Core platform, IRIS Hub and IRIS Retail, and look forward to taking those platforms and tools to markets in Africa, LatAm, Asia and Eastern Europe. We believe we have the knowledge and products to help operators in those regions achieve new heights and take their businesses to the next level. This is especially the case now that we have access to R. Franco’s
retail experience, games portfolio, and operational expertise. We are a powerful force capable of taking on the world.
Anything else you’d like to say about the passing of 2016 and 2017’s arrival? We are set to launch two amazing new brands based out of Malta. At the moment, we are all hands on deck in order to get both sites live before the end of the year; for one partner we have even built a proprietary sportsbook from the ground-up. It will round off an amazing year for Mediatech Solutions, and as 2017 comes into focus we look forward to sharing the progress we have made with our peers at ICE Totally Gaming in February. We are going to be even more visible on the international conference circuit next year, and look forward to showcasing what the combined power of
R.Franco and Mediatech Solutions has to offer.
