SEEFRONT Behind the curtain

IGT’s Sphinx 3D™ started one of the most arresting slot experiences of recent years, offering technology and superb 3D visuals that create an immersive player experience the likes of which had never been seen before. Casino International spoke with Sabine Neumann, CFO of SeeFront, creators of that incredible TRUE 3D™ technology.

I

f you’re at ICE 2017, make the time to go to IGT’s booth and find what has now grown to be a portfolio of TRUE 3D games – we guarantee you will not be disappointed. At the heart of this playing experience is glasses-free 3D

technology developed by a small German company,

SeeFront; combined with smart game design and IGT’s immersive AXXIS™ cabinet, has pushed the boundaries of slot gaming to places it has never been before.

Sabine Neumann, SeeFront CFO, explained to

Casino International how the company’s proprietary patented technology works…

Casino International: How long has SeeFront been around and what are its origins? Sabine Neumann: SeeFront was founded just over

10 years ago by a German engineer and architect, Christoph Grossmann. He was fascinated by 3D even in his youth and in the 90s he picked up on that again, developed some ideas, which led to his first patents for glasses-free 3D display technology. In 2006 he founded SeeFront in Hamburg, Germany, and decided to further develop and commercialise this technology. SeeFront is still a small company, fewer than 10 people, but we are planning to expand. We focus entirely on glasses-free 3D displays designed to give a single viewer the best possible 3D image experience.

CI: The 3D is incredible, it’s just jaw-droppingly good; I worried when I heard a 3D slot had been developed, because it might just be a gimmick for its own sake. A game designer has to be able to design a 3D game to get the best out of this… SN: We know that feeling of, you’ve seen some 3D,

probably seen some bad 3D, or been to the movies and been underwhelmed or went to a trade fair and saw some 3D TVs which were not great… One important thing to get a really great 3D experience is that the content needs to be good; the best 3D display technology will look poor with bad content. One of the things we at SeeFront were impressed with is that IGT really have incredible ways of bringing out the best of the technology with their content, so the viewer gets a lovely experience and the 3D visuals look really good. I can’t stress enough that their work has been excellent, which makes our displays look good, too.
