SYCAMORE 25TH ANNIVERSARY Q&A
We have recently partnered with Virtual Worlds, Winner and Articad, as we are aware that this type of technology is extremely helpful to our independent retailers. This software offers the ability to create amazing lifestyle designs to show consumers the benefits that lighting can give to their home. We want to make incorporating lighting into a design as simple as possible, and these platforms enable us to do this with ease.
Matt: Has Sycamore done anything specific to celebrate this anniversary? Natalie: It was officially our birthday this summer, which also coincided with our new showroom opening. We thought this was a great opportunity to showcase our new facility to our customers, which included a brand-new showroom featuring our entire bathroom mirror and cabinet collection. We invited all our customers to come along and take a tour of our new showroom, meet our team members and see all of our new products up close and personal. We also made sure to give everyone a very warm welcome by providing freshly made pizza throughout the day, as well as a fully stocked prosecco cart! The feedback we received from our customers was wonderful, and it was great to be able to open up our new showroom and show off all of our hard work.
Matt: What are the key differences between how the company is shaped now compared to when it started 25 years ago? Natalie: When the business first started out, we had a small handful of staff members who worked very hard over multiple roles. This quickly had to change due to growth, and over time our team has
grown to include many different roles. We still have many of the same team members with us today as we did in the beginning, which is great for us as we know our team is happy to be here and helps us to provide truly knowledgeable service to our customers.
A lot of our work is now based on ensuring our products are of consistently high quality, so our head office is fully kitted out with the latest testing equipment, along with a dedicated technical and design department who run the facility. We can now test all of our own products in-house and offer valuable design advice to all our customers. Our team has always been dedicated to providing the very best customer service that we can, and we strive to improve this all the time through training and new product development.
Matt: How do you imagine Sycamore might look in another 25 years (in 2048!)? Natalie: We hope to continue to provide lighting and lighting products that exceed expectations. Technology is improving all the time, and we keep a close eye on the latest advancements and innovations to incorporate into our products. We expect smart lighting controls to become more and more mainstream, which is the case for controlling many items in the home, so it’s exciting to see what will happen in the future. We will continue our efforts to be more sustainable. At Sycamore Lighting, we understand the need for sustainable products and practices to meet the needs of our current customers & stakeholders, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.
