INDUSTRY VIEWS INDUSTRY On-trend Textures
As a society, we are moving away from mainstream minimalism towards a more widely accepted form of expression through colour and texture. Textured surfaces – such as vanity units, wall tiles, or panelling - invite interaction, drawing us to engage with a space, and when it comes to bathroom design, consumers are increasingly looking to introduce texture to their bathroom design to help create welcoming and interesting spaces that exude luxury.
Texture in the form of fluting is a key trend across Fashion, Architecture, and Interior Design. Taking inspiration from Japandi-inspired design, this beautiful effect has become increasingly popular in bathroom design. Not only do fluted finishes make a space feel taller but also more contemporary. Crosswater offers a variety of fluted bathroom products, ranging from vanity units to brassware, that allow consumers to effortlessly introduce this on-trend texture into their bathroom design.
Showerwall – Multi- Generational Conversations High on the Agenda
There are now around 1.8 million households that span two or more generations according to
research from global commercial real estate company CBRE – so there is a growing demand for multigenerational design across the home. Perhaps there is nowhere more crucial for this than the

on adaptation to create a more welcoming environment for all. Manufacturers and retailers are certainly aware. There is a case to say that the next step is educating consumers and helping them to understand that multi-generational products may not be on their radar now, but it could be something they need to consider over the coming years. It can be a difficult conversation to have or maybe an eye-opener for customers, but it can also help homeowners achieve real long-term value from their investment.
Methven – The Good News for 2024
As 2023 moves towards a close, consumers are facing the prospect of potential increases to their water bills continuing for the foreseeable future.
After average yearly water and sewerage bills in England and Wales were forecast to rise by £31 (7.5%) to £448 across 2023, it is now mooted that bills could increase by £156 a year by 2030 due to contributions towards infrastructure upgrades and reduce sewage discharges. Despite the potential of another household bill increase at a difficult time, bathroom installers and plumbing professionals can be the bearer of good news when it comes to water saving. The good news is that 2023 represented another major step forward in our industry’s continued quest for greater sustainable product development, particularly in the sense that more and more consumers are aware of the importance of water efficient products, with bill increases only serving to amplify this awareness and desire for innovative products. In line with this, following the successful launch of our water savings calculator, we will soon be launching a series of tutorial videos to help end users understand the impact of their water saving efforts around the home.
