INDUSTRY UPDATE THE BMA COLUMN

Stoves Renews Partnership with Chefs on Stage

BMA – What are you doing to change the world?

T

his may seem like a rather abrupt question, but that’s intentional. Net-zero carbon is the goal which is shaping

our future and we must create the ambition, drive and results needed to make it happen. At the Bathroom Manufacturers Association, sustainability is not just part

of our purpose, it is our strategic goal. Across our membership, bathroom manufactures are very aware of the part they play in achieving the UK’s environmental ambitions. They are continuously innovating and researching the bathrooms of the future. While many of us are still working from home and enjoying the glorious

summer heat, the mission to halt climate change cannot be more pervasive. Across the world, wildfires, flooding and ever-increasing temperatures are ringing alarm bells for humanity. The post-pandemic era must be a period of rapid evolution in

environmental terms. In recognition of this, the BMA is launching our first Sustainability Awards this year. This is one way we are pinpointing this pivotal moment, and inspiring

change. The awards event will recognise the phenomenal hard work our members are doing to tackle climate change head on. We are setting out our stall, sharing best practice, and uncovering those

areas of R&D and innovation which deserve the kudos. Entrants can showcase their project, team and company, helping to raise the bar of achievement across the sector. The decision to launch the awards has been led by our members, it is

evidence of the importance of the topic in our industry, and we expect it will grow and expand in future years as the bathroom industry breaks new ground. The awards are open to full BMA members and affiliates and the deadline for entries is 5pm August 27, 2021.

The Sustainability Awards categories are: • CARBON REDUCTION AWARD • WATER EFFICIENCY AWARD • CIRCULAR ECONOMY AWARD • WORKPLACE INITIATIVE AWARD • SUSTAINABILITY CHAMPION

44 BKU AUGUST 2021

British cooking brand Stoves has renewed its partnership with cookery theatre provider Chefs on Stage, to provide built-in cookery appliances for live cookery theatres at more than 40 of the UK’s biggest food and drink festivals. The Stoves

branded stages will feature live cook demonstrations from some of the UK’s best known celebrity chefs and bakers, including The Hairy Bikers and James Martin, and will be supported with competitions to win tickets, pop-up activity and social media. Nina Harrison, Kitchen Campaign Marketing Manager for Stoves, said: “As a

nation food and drink plays a huge role in how we spend our leisure time. This is a great platform to show off our Stoves products and we are excited to be working so closely with some of the nation’s best loved chefs.” For further information about the shows and recipes from some of Britain’s most-loved chefs, visit www.stoves.co.uk or search #StovesonTour.

Ideal Bathrooms – The role of social in the bathroom world

It’s 2021, and retailers have never been so connected. Thanks largely to the pandemic, over the past 18 months social media

became one of the only ways to instantly connect with locked-down audiences. Thanks to The Ideal Bathrooms Ideal Industry Report 2020, undertaken

in partnership with BKU, we know that the majority of bathroom retailers have a presence on at least one of the major social platforms, with 91 per cent being active at the last count, up from 85 per cent in 2018. That’s because social media platforms are a simple and cost-effective

way to show off your most valuable asset - your product range – as well as giving your customers all the information they need about who you are and what you do. With such a valuable marketing tool free for all, can you afford to be

left behind?
