Focus on Cutters

Knowing what is right for you AG/CAD

There are plenty of digital cutting machines on the market these days that appear at first glance to be suitable for sign and graphics applications, and all at different price points, so what level of investment should you make for your business? The lower end of the price range and sometimes higher priced

machines tend to use more rudimentary routing spindles and lower specification electrical and electronic components, along with mechanicals that often have a bit of give in them. These can all result in a sub-standard finish, inconsistent cutting, and variable accuracy, especially over time. Yes, you can purchase a lower cost cutting machine that will do a job for you, but if the finish is not what your customers demand, or if your aim is to supply more premium, higher value products, then you may end up having to spend time hand finessing jobs cut by the machine, so it then becomes a false economy. DIBOND ACM is a classic case in point, if the aluminium ends up with a sharp lip after routing it then you will need to debur it by hand, and if a lot of the plastic/aluminium swarf waste is left behind on the sheet, then that needs a lot of cleaning out too. Both scenarios are common on many machines. All of this manual finishing takes time and labour, and eats into your productivity and profit. The DYSS X7 digital cutting machines we supply come as

Digital cutting machine

standard with a top-notch German-made, high-frequency spindle, two tangentially controlled slots for knife cutting and scoring tools, high-quality components, and a precise, robust build throughout, resulting in first class products straight off the machine. The philosophy we promote to potential buyers is that a wise machine purchase at the start pays dividends longer term.

Next-generation cutting and finishing solutions

JWEI SG3216 JWEI SG3216

The latest JWEI SG Series builds on the success of the JCUT Pro, delivering increased speed, broader capability and a highly competitive proposition for digital cutting and finishing. When CMYUK brought the JWEI JCUT Pro Series to the UK and Ireland in 2023, it made an immediate impact. In a market long dominated by a small number of premium brands, the range challenged the assumption that top-tier performance, extensive tooling and robust engineering had to come with an equally premium price tag. Backed by more than 30 years of JWEI engineering and a global installed base of over 30,000 machines, JCUT Pro quickly established itself as a serious contender. The next-generation SG Series takes that proposition further. The range comprises four models covering cutting areas from 1.6x2.5m through to 3.2x3.2m, and applications

spanning signage, display, POS, packaging, textiles and specialist converting. Cutting speed has increased by 33.3% to 2,000mm/sec, supported by an upgraded drive system across the X, Y, Z and T axes. The result is smoother movement, faster response and higher productivity, while operating noise has been reduced to 64dB. Extensive tooling is supplied as standard. A particularly interesting addition is the SG3216. Its 3.2x1.6m bed delivers true super-wide capability in a more space-efficient footprint, making it well suited to textile producers needing width without accommodating a much larger table. CMYUK has also worked with Neolt Factory on an optional

heavy-duty de-tensioning system for roll-fed textile applications. Capable of handling rolls up to 100kg, it feeds material in a controlled, relaxed state, helping eliminate stretch, spring-back and distortion during cutting. The SG1625 and SG3216 is now available at CMYUK’s

Shrewsbury demonstration and training facility. www.cmyuk.com
