CDM Plastics brings print in-house with China Print Supplies C

DM Plastics has installed a Dlican DLI-2513 UV flatbed printer and a Kartech KT1625

digital cutting table from China Print Supplies (CPS). The Redditch-based acrylic fabricator produces displays, signage and graphics for major UK retail brands, and until this year outsourced most of its printing work to subcontractors. Running both processes in-house gives the business control of its deadlines and keeps the print margin inside the company. Carl Way, production director at CDM Plastics, said: “We had a smaller printer which we used for roll work and

prototyping, and then we subcontracted everything else. “Thanks to the new machines from

CPS, we have taken control of the process, as well as benefiting from additional margin.” The Dlican prints on rigid sheet up to 2.5x1.3m and was specified with additional print heads, which lifts output speeds on longer runs, which was exactly what the company was looking for. Mr Way added: “We looked at

cutting machines from a few other manufacturers, but the combination of the price and quality of the Kartech was really hard to beat.

Grafical takes stock of new TrueVis AG-640 G

rafical Racing Design has turned to Roland DG to upgrade its previous TrueVis AP-640 wide-format printer

to Roland DG’s new AG-640. The machine has shortened production times by allowing latex prints to be laminated and installed directly after printing, eliminating the waiting period required with traditional eco-solvent technology. The printer also allows Grafical to

have clear colour matching as top manufacturers like Ducati and KTM have specific colours that represents them. Jarno Provost, founder of Grafical

Racing Design, said: “The AG-640 has completely changed what we’re capable of doing. It’s allowed us to take on work that simply wasn’t possible before.” “Most of what I print now goes through

the AG-640. We can print, laminate immediately and apply the graphics straight onto the cars, bikes or helmets. That cycle time has completely changed the way we work.” The increased colour range and ink configuration is an improvement from its previous colour offering which now includes dedicated red, orange, and white inks. With an expanded ink range, Grafical can now print onto new, transparent materials while achieving more vibrant colour reproduction across vehicle graphics, labels, and decals. Mr Provost added: “The colours are so

much better. “We’re now able to reproduce colours that were difficult before, including major manufacturer colours like KTM Orange, and Ducati Red.” Graphical’s work has appeared in MotoGP, Moto3 and World Supersport with an expanding portfolio of professional teams. The company’s ability to meet a

quick-turn delivery time has garnered a loyal customer base who know they can reliably deliver high-quality and durable prints fast and since taking stock of the new printer, Grafical has secured two new major rally sport customers. Mr Provost concluded: “We produce a lot of product labels now without needing to laminate them. That saves both time and material costs while still delivering excellent durability.”
