Data analysis: Business outlook

With the industry going through a lot of changes in recent years, companies would be forgiven for finding things tougher. Many have looked inward to find innovative ways to stay ahead of the market, as the results of the Widthwise Survey express. Assistant editor Benjamin Austin reports.

W

hile conducting the survey, the same comment kept cropping up regarding the

current climate of the industry. Te majority of those filling in the

questionnaire explained how they felt work was getting harder to come by. With more companies entering the large-format market, the supply is becoming saturated, causing a race to the bottom in terms of pricing. Many are therefore looking to

diversify into new revenue streams to compete or even withdraw from the race altogether, finding a niche in which they can stand alone. When asked what was the biggest priority

to the customers, the majority of those surveyed (65%) said price, with around 1/4 of the respondents saying it was their only priority.
