I
t’s always an honour to be recognised by your industry peers, and to be named the most innovative wide-format manufacturer in Image Reports’ 2025 Widthwise Survey is a particularly proud moment for all of us at Roland DG. Recognition like this matters because it
comes from those who live and breathe the business – the people running machines, building workflows, solving problems, and pushing creative limits every day. Was I surprised by the result? Not
entirely, but I am proud. We work hard to lead with purpose, and we believe innovation is not just about new products or flashy tech. It’s about how we consistently deliver tools that help our customers do more, with greater ease and creativity. So this recognition affirms that we’re delivering on what we set out to do.
Why Roland DG? So what is it that sets us apart? I believe it’s the depth and breadth of our innovation. We innovate not just in hardware, but in ink formulation, soſtware platforms, cloud-based connectivity, user support systems, and the experiential outcomes
our most advanced eco-solvent printer yet. It redefines productivity without compromising image quality, offering blistering speeds of up to 76m sq/hr while delivering an unparalleled colour gamut through our expanded eight-colour TH ink set. Tat includes newly formulated red, green, and orange inks, essential for accurate brand colour reproduction and the creation of eye-catching visuals. Building on that legacy, we recently
introduced the TrueVIS XG-640, the fastest printer/cutter we’ve ever produced. It features newly designed dual staggered print heads and high-speed data control for unmatched productivity – up to 15.2m sq/hr in eight-colour mode. Both models incorporate intuitive
functionality, including a 7in touchscreen, automatic media calibration, and compatibility with Roland DG Connect, our cloud-based performance management platform. It is a tool not just for print, but for business growth, helping users track productivity, pre-empt maintenance issues, and improve ROI. In fact, Roland DG Connect has become
a central part of our value proposition. Whether users are running a single device
or multiple devices across a network, they now have access to real-time analytics, predictive support, and workflow optimisation tools. Tese features empower smarter business decisions and increased profitability.
Direct-to-object and compact innovation For customers working in limited-sized spaces or pursuing diversified output, our latest VersaSTUDIO BN2-30 and BD-12 printers offer compact, powerful desktop solutions. Te BN2-30’s integrated print and cut capabilities bring professional production to small-footprint environments, ideal for graphics, apparel transfers, labels and more. Te BD-12, in particular, is a marvel
of UV flatbed engineering for A4-sized direct-to-object printing. It is incredibly versatile, with the ability to print on cylindrical items, soſt and hard materials, and with gloss and primer options that enable high-end customisation. Tese devices are making it easier for entrepreneurs, educators, and SMEs to launch new ventures or bring outsourced services in-house.
Customer-led innovation Being seen as ‘the most innovative’ is especially meaningful because this mirrors the feedback we receive from customers across EMEA. Whether we’re working with large sign makers, or creative startups, the common thread is a desire for reliability, versatility, and tools that help them differentiate their services. Our job is not only to meet those needs, but to anticipate them. However, some of our proudest moments
