Heat pump option added to cylinder range
Baxi has expanded its fl agship Megafl o cylinder portfolio with the launch of the new Megafl o Essential range of direct and indirect cylinders, plus the brand’s fi rst air source heat pump (ASHP) cylinder. The new range has been
developed in response to installers’ calls for solutions that address budget constraints and growing consumer demand for heat pump- compatible options. Designed for residential heat pumps, including Baxi’s HP40 and HP60 ASHPs, the Essential ASHP cylinder features a high surface area coil, twin 3kW immersion heaters and a secondary return connection to support hot water production and delivery. The range uses a new internal
expansion mechanism, removing the need for a separate expansion vessel and reducing installation time and space requirements while simplifying maintenance. Indirect models feature coil-in-coil heat exchangers for rapid heat recovery. Alongside the Essential range,
Baxi has also introduced the enhanced internal expansion system to its Megafl o Eco direct and indirect cylinders. The
premium range retains 60mm of insulation and a 30-year warranty on the stainless steel inner tank. The Megafl o Eco range is
designed to provide long-term durability and energy effi ciency, while the Essential range off ers an alternative for installations where cost and space are key considerations. ◼

Three new approaches to fi replace design
Dutch manufacturer DRU has introduced three new fi res for autumn 2026, covering gas, electric and wood-burning applications. The Global Ivar 5 CF gas stove is based
on the Dik Geurts Ivar 5 wood stove and has been designed for installation into UK chimneys. It features a TrueFlame burner and Ceraglass interior, and is available for natural gas or LPG. The Valo electric range combines LED technology
with a Purewood log set, wood chips and a glow bed. Available in two widths, it can be confi gured as a single-, two- or three-sided fi re. At 29cm deep, it is designed for incorporation into media walls and false chimney breasts, with operation via remote control or app.
For larger rooms, the Dik Geurts Instyle Triple U700
(pictured) is a three-sided wood fi re designed for installation in a feature wall or room divider. It has an 8-12kW heat output and uses the DG Smart Assist air control system, operated by remote or app. ◼

Simple way to catch missed presses
Instantor has now incorporated its Leak Before Press (LBP) Technology as standard across its Press System fi ttings. This feature provides a visual alert for any fi ttings that have not been pressed. This allows installers to complete any outstanding presses before leaving site, avoiding the time and cost associated with attending callbacks. Unpressed fi ttings that have been overlooked can result in costly water damage, project delays and customer dissatisfaction. The LBP functionality is now standard across the Instantor Press range. Fittings use CW617N brass
bodies and 304 stainless steel sleeves and have WRAS, KIWA and NSAI approval, as well as EPD verifi cation. Alan Hogan, divisional
MD at Instantor, says: “Our Leak Before Press Technology provides a smart, fail-safe feature and peace of mind on every job. In water- based applications,
LBP fi ttings are designed to visibly leak under low pressure if they haven’t been pressed. This creates an immediate visual alert, allowing installers to identify and correct any missed fi ttings.” ◼

Low energy fan keeps the peace in the loo
Manrose has launched its Black Tiled Fan, featuring a black tiled fascia designed for wall and panel mounting in bathrooms and WCs. Available in several models, including a built-in timer version, it provides an extraction rate of 75m3
/hr (21 L/s) with a maximum
power consumption of 16W. The fan uses a long-life
motor rated for a minimum of 30,000 hours and has an integral backdraught shutter. Made from
thermoplastics, it is manufactured for durability and straightforward installation. The low-energy motor operates
at low sound levels, while the black fi nish provides an alternative to conventional white ventilation products. The fan is designed for domestic bathroom and WC applications, providing mechanical ventilation while using relatively little electricity during operation. ◼

Platform expands device compatibility
The Works with Hive programme is being expanded through a partnership with energy technology company Enode, allowing hundreds of additional smart energy devices to connect with the Hive app. The integration will initially cover electric vehicles
and EV chargers, before extending to solar panels and home batteries. It will allow households to monitor and manage compatible products from diff erent manufacturers through a single app rather than separate platforms. The system could also enable users to schedule
EV charging for cheaper periods and make use of electricity generated by solar panels and stored in home batteries. The integration is powered by Enode’s Energy
Orchestration Platform, which allows further brands and product categories to be added. The partnership is also intended to support future
connected energy services, including smart tariff s and home energy optimisation. Connecting devices could allow electricity demand to be shifted towards periods when prices or grid demand are lower. ◼
