Sound way to detect water leaks

A combined thermal imaging and acoustic detection system has been developed by Hikmicro to improve how water leaks are discovered in both residential and commercial environments. Together, the B20S thermal imaging camera and the AD21P acoustic leak detector offer a non-invasive method of identifying and pinpointing water leaks, including those hidden behind walls or beneath floors. The process begins with thermal imaging,

which identifies temperature differences on surfaces. This can indicate areas where moisture or leaking water may be present. The B20S camera uses a sensitive VOx detector along with an image enhancement function to improve visual clarity. This allows users to narrow down the general location of a leak without physical disruption to the structure. Once a potential leak area is identified,

the AD21P acoustic leak detector is used to locate the precise leak point. Unlike

for Professionals

conventional systems that rely heavily on manual listening, this detector processes the sound automatically, which simplifies operation for less experienced users. The system is designed to reduce inspection time, lower the risk of false detection and minimise structural damage during leak investigations. ◼ phamnews.co.uk/525/16

Protect the PCB while you work

The PCB Guard is a tool distributed by HeatLab designed to shield printed circuit boards (PCBs) in boilers from accidental damage during plumbing or heating system repairs. As boilers contain sensitive electronic components, exposure to water, debris, or physical knocks can lead to malfunctions or costly replacements. Made from durable materials and compatible with most boiler models, the guard fits over the PCB, creating a barrier against spills, dust and mechanical impacts. Its design accommodates wiring and connectors, allowing engineers to work without removing it. ◼ phamnews.co.uk/525/17

Battery extension takes a load off

REMS DETECT GS4 The perfect solution

for reliable leak detection! German Quality Product

Info

A portable battery extension designed for Milwaukee’s MX Fuel equipment system has been launched to reduce the physical strain of using handheld tools by relocating the battery weight from the tool to the operator’s back or to the ground. This shift in weight distribution can lessen fatigue and make tools easier to handle during prolonged use. The battery extension connects to any MX Fuel equipment via a 2.4m tether, allowing

users to operate tools while the battery remains off the unit. This setup can reduce the effective tool weight by as much as 45%, depending on the equipment and application. It is compatible with all MX Fuel battery sizes, making it possible to use the larger battery packs without affecting the balance or handling of the tool. Designed for use in demanding environments, the extension weighs 5.6kg on its own

and 11.5kg when fitted with the MXF HD812 battery pack. It allows users to have full tool performance, especially when working from ladders and scaffolding. ◼ phamnews.co.uk/525/18
