PHAM NEWS | FEBRUARY 2024 34 Domestic Boilers For larger domestic projects

The ProTec NX is a high- efficiency, fan-assisted gas boiler from Alpha, designed for larger domestic installations as well as commercial applications. Available in six individual outputs starting at 48kW, the boiler range has the capability of cascading to achieve higher outputs and increase load flexibility. Its wide 1:10 modulation range enables the boiler to run at a low output with fewer on/off cycles, reducing emissions and increasing component longevity. For installers, the ProTec NX offers an

easy-to-fit unit which can be wall-mounted or fixed to a freestanding low or ultra-low frame. The boiler is factory-fitted with a room-sealed ‘C’ flue type configuration but is also compatible with ‘B23’ or twin flue systems using the stub kit. The new range offers a more compact,

space-saving solution, especially when banking boilers together with a range of flue options for individual, cascaded and different ventilation scenarios. A wide range of hydraulic accessories is available to link boilers, and plate exchangers and low loss headers to feed multiple heating and hot water zones. The ProTec NX has an inbuilt option within the boiler control panel capable of

Oil boilers to suit almost any application

With models that vary in output from 15 to 70kW, the Grant Vortex oil boiler range delivers choice and flexibility when it comes to installation. From boilers suitable for smaller homes and external boilers for homes where internal space is at a premium, to larger boiler installations for bigger properties, the Vortex range comprises heat-only and combination boilers. Achieving energy efficiencies of up to

setting programs, temperatures and zones to suit the system’s need. Using Alpha’s smart commercial controls, it’s possible to link multiple boilers in cascade and drive them all from one ‘master’ boiler. Natural gas or LPG options are available and

they come with a 10-year warranty. Darran Smith, technical manager for

Alpha, comments: “All models are approved and certified for hydrogen blended gas when the network begins to offer it, to further reduce carbon levels towards the decarbonising goals. Weather compensation also comes as standard, with the use of a sensor to monitor outside temperature and adjusting the output of the boiler to suit the demand and desired internal temperature.” ◼ phamnews.co.uk/224/51

condensate trap, which prevents freezing and boiler lockouts in adverse winter conditions, a combined Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) and separate primary boiler drain for quick, simple draining and maintenance access, and removable colour coded wiring blocks for easier wiring. In addition, the new boiler ranges are manually

convertible between natural gas and LPG without the need for a conversion kit. They are also compatible with a new one-person internal fit horizontal telescopic flue range for a safer and quicker installation from inside the property. ◼ phamnews.co.uk/224/53

More energy efficient options

94.5%, Grant is able to boast some of the most efficient oil-fired boilers in the UK, enabling homeowners to lower their fuel usage, reduce their fuel bills and lessen greenhouse gas emissions. All Grant Vortex Pro Internal, External and Combi models can receive a 10 year

guarantee when installed and registered by a member of the G1 Scheme. Vortex floor standing boilers are also

HVO compatible, which means they can be converted to HVO operation with a few alterations. The low carbon liquid fuel will enable rural properties to easily transition to more sustainable home heating, says the company. ◼ phamnews.co.uk/224/52

Boasting 97.5% efficiency and low NOx emissions, Firebird oil boilers offer an energy saving solution for many oil heating users who may be reliant on older, less efficient models. The company’s boilers are also fully

compatible with Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), a sustainable alternative to kerosene that can reduce household emissions by up to 90%. The company says that conversion to HVO requires only minimal adjustments

to existing home heating systems. Mark Doyle, general manager at Firebird,

comments: “HVO can work with any liquid fuel boiler and if used in homes, can potentially make these homes almost carbon neutral immediately. We are continuing to innovate and drive more sustainable heating solutions that help homeowners reduce their carbon footprint and future-proof their homes.” ◼ phamnews.co.uk/224/54
