PHAM NEWS | FEBRUARY 2025 26 Products in Action Heat pump radiators in the sustainable village

The installation of the Briza Net Zero heat pump radiators from Jaga UK will heat and cool homes in Welborne, a sustainable garden village in Hampshire. Designed by Buckland Group, Welborne will accommodate 15,000 residents and features energy-efficient homes. The Briza S Net Zero model

integrates with a water-source heat network, utilising water from a local reservoir. This

system warms water to 45°C for heating in winter and circulates cooler water for summer cooling.

High-end ventilation

The Grange Aston Martin Birmingham dealership has implemented a comprehensive HVAC installation by Gilberts Blackpool to support its operations. The facility features a two-storey design that showcases eight Aston Martin models and includes a seven-bay service and maintenance area. To ensure proper ventilation

throughout the building, Brava Building Services installed a range

of Gilberts components, including high-performance adjustable swirls, high induction linear slot diffusers, and adjustable double deflection circular ducting grilles. Additionally, Gilberts’ louvres are integrated into the façade to improve air circulation and remove fumes from the valeting bay.

Andy Owens, MD of Brava

Building Services, says: “The design and engineering quality of Gilberts’ diffusers and grilles made them the obvious choice for such a high-end project, where the smallest detail matters.” ◼ phamnews.co.uk/225/43

Drainage solution for urban bar

A Saniflo Sanicom 1 single-pump unit and a Saniflo Sanicom 2 twin- pump unit have addressed a design challenge at the Oasis Bar & Terrace where it faced drainage challenges due to the venue’s location above the London Underground and within a no-dig zone. The project incorporates Saniflo products to facilitate effective wastewater management. The Sanicom 2 unit, installed in the downstairs bar, is designed to

handle large volumes of water, ensuring continuous operation even in the event of a pump failure. It operates with twin pumps, which alternate to balance wear and tear, while allowing one pump to take over if the other malfunctions. The waste pipes from this unit run beneath the floor to external customer restrooms. In the upstairs bar, the Sanicom 1 unit manages waste through a

single pump, which connects to the same drainage system as the downstairs unit. This setup ensures that the bar can operate efficiently without conventional drainage solutions. ◼ phamnews.co.uk/225/44

The introduction of Hydromx heat transfer fluid at The Chelmsford Diocesan House of Retreat in Pleshey, Essex, has been undertaken to improve the energy performance of the historic site. The retreat, located within a conservation area, comprises a listed Georgian farmhouse, an Edwardian Arts and Crafts property, and a chapel. These buildings presented significant challenges for energy efficiency upgrades due to their age, layout, and heritage status, which ruled out many conventional solutions such as air source heat pumps or solar panels. The diocese had previously installed heat

transfer fluid Hydromx at more than 30 of its voluntary aided primary schools and considered it the right approach for Pleshey due to its relative simplicity to install and no requirement for major plant or system changes. A total of 635 litres of Hydromx were

introduced across the retreat’s heating systems. The process involved draining the existing systems, ensuring they were clean and in good condition and, in some cases, replacing TRVs and adding isolation valves to facilitate future maintenance. Hydromx is expected to reduce energy

consumption and carbon emissions by between 20% and 35%. Early feedback from retreat staff indicates reduced fuel bills and improved warmth in the buildings. The installation aligns with the Diocese of Chelmsford’s commitment to achieving carbon neutrality by 2030, as part of the Church of England’s wider environmental goals. The work was undertaken by Lyndon

Ingram-Palmer, of Highcliff Mechanical Services in Southend, Essex, working with UK distributor HMX UK. ◼ phamnews.co.uk/225/45
