Vielo goes direct to consumer, retains select dealers
VIELO has announced a move to a direct-to-consumer model, citing major brands clogging up supply lines as the driving factor.
The British brand, founded by father and son Ian and Trevor Hughes in 2017, builds premium road and gravel bikes optimised for 1x drivechains.
The company will retain a select number of dealers. The bikes delivered to these UK dealers are fully assembled with custom build
options. International retailers will still have the option to purchase framesets. These dealers will also act as a service and demo centre for Vielo customers.
Ian said: “I have supported independent bicycle shops during all my time (38 years) in the cycle trade. “We’ve come up with a package that allows us to pass on the savings of a leaner supply chain to our customers, while still maintaining an option to retain a select number of dealers.”
Advanced Bikes opens new state of the art
production facility in Germany GERMAN e-bike manufacturer Advanced Bikes has opened its new European facility. Officially opened on
April 21, the new facility in northern Germany is a 6,200 square metre production site and 1,000 square metre office space, on a 20,000 sqm site, costing a total of €13 million. The first milestone is for Advanced to assemble 150 e-bikes
per day, with a capacity to make up to 100,000 e-bikes per year. Advanced distributors for the UK and ROI, Adam and Sophie
Browne, from Advanced Bikes UK, visited the facility in April to collect the first serial production Reco e-bikes, which are due to land in UK stores soon.
Haibike announces plans to open three new service centres in UK
GERMAN bike brand Haibike has announced plans to open three new service centres in the UK, to support its customers on these shores. Haibike currently has an existing sales and service centre in Birmingham, RaceCo Cycles UK. The brand will also be hosting a number of events and open days to help promote its bikes to prospective customers, letting them check out the new Haibike All MTN e-MTB, powered by the Yamaha PW-X3 system. A statement from the Haibike UK team said: “Creating dedicated spaces to speak directly with customers is essential, we wanted to boost access and support within our valuable bike shops and focus on engaging with customers face to face.”
Wiggle undergoes rebrand
WIGGLE, the outdoor equipment and apparel online retailer, has undergone a rebrand. A new green colour scheme and logo has replaced the well- known orange and black with the brand saying: “New look. New logo. New energy.” A spokesperson for the company said: “We’ve updated our branding and switched to a much faster site to better streamline

the customer experience. “We had a few bumps in the road, but that was expected with the scale of the project. “We’re hugely excited about the
new brand and we have massive plans for the very near future.”
