SEA OF THIEVES ARRR-VAILABLE ON PS5

If at the start of the current console generation you’d said that a veritable flotilla of first-party Xbox games would be sailing onto PlayStation 5 by the end of it, we probably would have laughed you out of The George & Kraken. Nevertheless here we are, with Sea of Thieves, in many ways the quintessential modern Xbox game, doing exactly that. There’s still some disbelief around: when seas are calm the echoes of the internet’s incredulousness can still be heard on the wind.

FULFILMENT With more than three million gamers registering an interest, the most wishlisted title on Steam finally arrived in Early Access and immediately shot to the top of the charts. Sure, there were some frustrated that the game wasn’t what they’d expected, but for a game largely made by one person that managed to be both an in-depth city builder and an evolving battle simulator – and that’s far from complete, remember – Manor Lords is already shaping up to be game of the year material. Next year, probably.

EMBRACER TO UNGROUP Forever synonymous with the issues the games industry has been facing, Embracer Group announced that it will be falling on its sword in such a way as to carve itself up into three separate entities. Asmodee Group and Coffee Stain & Friends will be spun out and shares in both distributed to current Embracer shareholders. Then, in a final act of seppuku, Embracer itself will bleed out into Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends.

They say you make your own friends and Embracer seems to be going about it in a literal way, using a figurative pound of its own flesh (or three).
