orldwide, the COVID-19 pandemic has affected many industries, especially when it comes to confectionery. During these unprecedented


times the industry has undoubtedly witnessed a shift in consumer behaviour. In light of this, the National Confectioners Association has published ‘Confectionery Sales Amid COVID-19: 2020’ – part two of three in a series exploring every day, seasonal and confectionery shopper insights in a COVID-19 world. This instalment takes a look at confectionery shopping and consumption across the USA during the pandemic.

According to the report, confectionery has been an area of growth for the retail industry with annual sales of $35.7 billion across many channels. In addition, the research shows that the pandemic has changed the growth trajectory of many departments in food retail, including confectionery.


The report states that there was
