minimum thanks to the linear design. The compact construction of the weigher is especially suitable for low height production rooms. The linear multihead weigher is also equipped with a transfer unit specially developed by MULTIPOND. The unit consists of counter-rotating conveyor belts with a centrally arranged timing hopper allowing the product to be presented to the packaging machine from a centred position.


The space-saving weigher achieves an output of up to 60 weighings per minute. It is ideally suited for weighing products that require gentle handling due to their characteristics and cannot, therefore be weighed using conventional multihead weighers. These are mainly brittle, easily damaged products such as fresh fruit, pastries, or coated chocolate buttons etc. Besides the familiar MULTIPOND quality and the hygienic


design, the ARGUS camera offers much more added value than conventional systems. The advanced ARGUS 3D camera permits a controlled and precise filling of the weigh hopper. Optimising the product flow achieves shorter feeding times,


fewer overfills and greater variety of combinations. The benefit to the customer is a higher output and less giveaway. When weighing difficult products, the weigher delivers better results and advantages. The new linear multihead weigher also conforms to the established hygiene standards of the MULTIPOND J-generation, fulfilling EHEDG and USDA requirements. The innovative Hygienic Design guarantees simple and safe cleaning.


RC500i model can produce up to 3500Kg per 24-hour day. Using its latest Siemens software incorporating optimised running parameters, the RC500i not only produces these exceptionally fast cycle times for milk compound but also enhanced flavour development and improved shelf life due to the extraction capabilities incorporated into the machine.


The opportunity to impact not only the particle size during the


process, unlike some alterative manufacturing systems, is a key feature giving MacIntyre customers a competitive edge and an opportunity to produce a higher quality compound, adding value to their products by benefiting from a more desirable finished result. The wear characteristics per batch are the lowest so far to be analysed by an independent UK laboratory. Advanced PLC control combined with a large R&D focus during 2020 has enabled MacIntyre to make the advancements in their traditional and trusted Refiner/Conche. RC500i cycle times are up to 40% faster than 2017 models and


combined with 30% energy savings seen with the Next Generation models, this is taking the cost down of compound and coating production for manufacturers.


It is also capable of producing three batches of pure milk chocolate in a 24-hour period, achieving a particle size of 20 microns (starting from sugar of 250 microns), without the need for additional conching. This exercise was carried out just to prove the excellent flavour and


smoothness achievable without additional conching. While some users may prefer to conche longer, the taste and texture of 20-micron finish after 6.5 hours processing in the RC500i was surprising.


1. Handling delicate products


Our final highlight for equipment was back in May, with MULTIPOND’s new product-friendly weighing solution for delicate products. Delicate products must often still be manually weighed as, up


until now, automated handling posed major challenges. However, MULTIPOND has put its years of know-how and core expertise to use and now offer an easy-to clean automated solution. The new weigher is gentle handling on products and has the added advantage of being able to be integrated into a packaging line. The new space-saving solution is a fully automated linear multihead


weigher based on all of MULTIPOND ‘s standards. The design and accessibility are of a similar concept to a conventional MULTIPOND multihead weigher. This makes for quick and easy cleaning of the weigher as customers have come to expect. It provides an extremely flexible production solution in the smallest


space coupled with maximum efficiency. The drop heights within the product feed and product transfer have been reduced to an absolute
