New approach to dynamic RGB-LED application development

elexis now offers the ADK81116 application development kit, designed to simplify the


development of dynamic RGB-LED automotive applications. The kit comes with pre-loaded configurable firmware, simplifying and shrinking firmware development resources and effort. All that’s required is a straightforward calibration and configuration through an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI).


Key parts LED lighting, especially when implemented in a highly dynamic manner, is rapidly becoming a key element of modern automotive design. It adds to visual differentiation, but it also becomes an important part of the smart feedback of infotainment and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) in vehicles. Producing traditional mechanical or


electronic assemblies and integrating animated lighting systems with sophisticated firmware requirements


adds to the technical challenges for development teams. To enable accurate colour mixing in a typical dynamic RGB application, it is necessary to develop firmware that provides diagnostics, system integration and calibration of the base pulse width modulation (PWM) settings. This requires the firmware be extensively tested and validated prior to production. Melexis addresses this challenge with its ADK81116 development kit.
