New E-motor IP68 Encapsulated Precision RTD Temperature Sensor
The new IP68-rated Heraeus EC3032 Pt1000 temperature sensor assembly is ideal for use in e-motor applications. With a temperature range of -50°C to +200°C (with a short- term rating of up to 250°C for 50 hours) it offers precise, and robust temperature sensing solution for harsh automotive environments. In addition, internal results confirm that the sensors are both oilproof and oil-tight. To that end Heraeus are currently applying the EC3032 for AEC-Q200 component approval. The sensor consists of a Pt1000B element terminated onto 24AWG PTFE wire and then encapsulated in a tough high-temperature shrink tube that is back-filled. This creates an IP68 rated sensor that has a dielectric strength of 6kV. The standard EC3032 sensor has 410mm long lead-wires but other lengths are available for high-volume applications. As well as e-motor applications, the sensor can be used in rapid charging plugs, battery temperature monitoring, industrial motors, automation equipment and high temperature heating elements. This new Heraeus EC3032 temperature sensor, forms part of the extensive range of platinum temperature sensors which are stocked by ATC Semitec.

AS6081-certified distributor Princeps invests in and expands anti-counterfeiting facilities; supplies fully traceable difficult-to-source and obsolete components
Princeps, the accredited specialist distributor of obsolete and difficult-to-source electronic, electrical and e-mech components for advanced industries, announces it has received renewed AS6081 accreditation following its relocation to larger premises. One of less than five and probably as few as two UK distributors to hold AS6081 certification, Princeps specialises in sourcing fully-traceable components for customers in advanced industries, including aerospace, defence, energy and transportation. The AS6081 standard was
created in 2012 by the global engineering association SAE International in response to a significant and increasing volume of fraudulent or counterfeit electronic parts entering the supply chain. It standardizes practices to identify reliable sources, mitigate the risk of distributing fraudulent or counterfeit parts and control and report those suspect or confirmed items to the relevant authorities and potential users.

Power Integrations Combines Programmability, High Efficiency and Small Form Factor in New Zero-Voltage-Switching Power-Supply ICs Power Integrations (NASDAQ: POWI), the leader in high- voltage integrated circuits (ICs) for energy-efficient power conversion, today announced the InnoSwitch™4-Pro family of digitally controllable, off-line CV/CC Zero Voltage Switching (ZVS) flyback ICs, which substantially reduce the size
of power adapters. Incorporating a robust PowiGaN gallium-nitride primary switch and steady-state switching frequency of up to 140 kHz, the highly integrated devices reduce the component count and PCB area required for ultra-compact adapters for cellphone, notebook, tablet and multi-port accessories. “InnoSwitch4-Pro ICs interface seamlessly with Power Integrations’ ClampZero™ family of active clamp ICs to achieve ZVS in both continuous conduction mode (CCM) and discontinuous conduction mode (DCM),” stated Aditya Kulkarni, product marketing manager at Power Integrations.

Panasonic Industry extends its POSCAP offer with ultimately reliable and compact TLE series POSCAP is Panasonic Industry’s family of Conductive Polymer Tantalum Solid Capacitors. With a high characteristical stability and a low ESR being POSCAP’s typical benefits, the company now introduces its latest POSCAP extension, namely the TLE series that promises an unrivalled reliability, especially in terms of guaranteed heat tolerance. “5G-readiness is – amongst others – a question of components being reliably heat tolerant”, says Shahrokh Kananizadeh, Product Manager from Panasonic Industry Europe. “The TLE series has proven to safely withstand 125°C for at least 2,000 hours. That renders it the capacitor of choice for next-gen processing units, connectivity applications or 5G-infrastructure devices.” Accelerators, base stations, servers and high-end processors require capacitors processing high loads in high- temperature environments – and coming in compact dimensions: The TLE series is as small as 3.5 x 2.8 x 1.9mm and thus even suits the power rail around GPUs and CPUs. “Regarding all the core specs, the TLE series will definitely add a new level of excellence to our POSCAP family now”, summarizes Kananizadeh.

Flexible and durable sensor array from Honeywell for heavy-duty and off-highway applications now in stock at Powell Electronics
Now available through Powell Electronics, the supplier of connectors and more for high-rel applications including defence, aerospace and industrial, is the Transportation Attitude Reference System (TARS) from Honeywell. TARS is a packaged sensor array designed to report vehicle angular rate, acceleration, and attitude
data for demanding applications such as heavy duty and off-highway transportation. The TARS-IMU device measures important vehicle characteristics and enhances efficiency and productivity by reporting key data required to automate and monitor movements of vehicle systems and components. With two sensor models for different power levels, the TARS-IMU sensor array accommodates both 5 V and 9 V to 36 V vehicle power systems. The sensor fusion algorithm can be customized for specific vehicle applications via on- board firmware, allowing movement data to be filtered to minimize unwanted noise and vibrations for improved position accuracy. Communication is transmitted using industry standard CAN J1939 connectivity. As a standard, the TARS-IMU component is calibrated on aerospace-grade rate tables at the factory to provide enhanced calibration consistency between units.
