Selfridges, Oxford Street

SELFRIDGES is the second-largest shop in the UK after Harrods. I was looking to buy a new TV. Inside the store, I took the escalator to the lower ground floor. Inside the sound and vision department, I could not help but notice the 82-inch Samsung 8K QLED TV (Q950R), which was priced at £9,999. Belma approached me and asked if I needed any help. She said with no 8K content available, the set offers 8K AI upscaling, which would enable me to enjoy everything in 8K, even if it was not filmed in 8K. Belma also mentioned the Smart Hub, which

offers a large collection of 4K content and catch-up apps, plus Apple TV, BT Sport and Now TV apps. She highlighted that the TV was connected to Samsung’s flagship soundbar (Q90R), which was priced at £1,499.

I mentioned that the 82-inch TV may be a little too large and Belma had no hesitation in showing me Samsung QLED 4K TVs in 65 and 75-inch sizes, priced at £3,799 and £4,499 respectively.

Harrods, Brompton Road

JOINT WINNING MULTIPLE

HARRODS is the largest department store in Europe, located on a five-acre site, with 330 departments and 1.1 million sq ft of retail space. It also has its own unique postcode!

I was looking to buy a bean-to-cup coffee machine on the second floor of the world-famous store. I was greeted by Jason; he mentioned that the

store sells machines from De’Longhi, Miele and Jura. He started his presentation by asking about our

coffee drinking habits. I said my wife likes drinking cappuccinos and flat whites, while I am an espresso fan, but I’ll occasionally drink a cappuccino, He presented a Jura model (E8), which was priced at £1,095. He explained that it is capable of making two coffees at the same time. Jason asked me if I’d like to try a coffee. He showed me step-by-step how to make a cappuccino and flat white. He explained that the model comes with a cleaning kit that includes cleaning tablets and a spare filter.

John Lewis, Oxford Street

JOINT WINNING MULTIPLE

THIS was the first ever John Lewis store to be opened – in 1864.

I was looking to buy a food mixer. Inside the store, as I browsed, I was greeted by Alexander, who offered to help me.

He showed me two products. The first was the a Kenwood model (Chef Sense XL), which was priced at £549. Alexander explained that there are many different accessories for the Kenwood model, and he showed how the various attachments dock into the back part of the machine.

The second product he presented was from KitchenAid (Artisan 175 5KSM175PSBIC), which was priced at £449. Alexander explained that the KitchenAid mixer is manufactured from iron in the United States and, therefore, it is a sturdier option than the Kenwood. He mentioned that the KitchenAid mixer was available in 12 colours, which were sold at various price points.

explained it was an attempt to close the sale. Store

signage was not effective.

Edgware Road THIS store was established in 1995; as I walked past, I was drawn to the window display, which prominently featured a dozen different coloured products from Roberts Radio.

I was looking to buy a vacuum cleaner. Inside the

store, the member of staff was talking to a customer so I began to browse the products on display. There was a wide range of fans available as it was quite warm that day.

After a few minutes, Basil approached me. He said that the store has two vacuum cleaner models. The first was a bagless cylinder model from Vytronix, which was priced at £59.99. The second model Basil presented was a cordless vacuum cleaner from Morphy Richards (SuperVac), which was priced at £99. Basil mentioned

that on a

full charge the cleaner can operate for around 40 minutes and he advised me to charge it overnight, so it would be ready for the next day.
