News iF Gold Award for LG OLED TV


A jury panel of 67 design experts, convening in Germany, awarded LG with 16 recognitions, among them the iF Gold Award for the LG OLED TV E9. Winners were announced last month


in Munich at the iF Design Award 2019 ceremony. This year, 66 products were recognised with iF Gold Awards among 6,375 entries received. LG OLED TV (model E9) secured the


highest iF Gold Award for outstanding design that made the screen more

expansive. The use of transparent glass at the bottom with the stand recessed far behind the display creates a more immersive viewing experience that draws the eyes to display. According to the iF judges, LG designed a TV where the screen appeared to “fl oat in air”, the ultimate objective of every TV designer. A wide array of OLED products, such


as LG SIGNATURE OLED TV R, also known as the world’s only “rollable” TV, 8K OLED TV, OLED TV and Transparent


Three 2019 Philips TVs win leading design awards


The design of three of the sets from TP Vision’s 2019 Philips TV range has received the highest offi cial recognition by winning fi ve new Design Awards from both the prestigious iF and Red Dot design competitions. The awards also validate TP Vision’s partnership approach with European specialist brands, with one of the new sets created as part of the multi-year agreement with British audio brand, Bowers & Wilkins, and another new award-winning set with the world- renowned Danish artisans from Georg Jensen. The awards include both Red Dot and


IF Design Awards for the new OLED+934 and the new OLED 854 and an iF Award for the new 9104 model. The iF and Red Dot awards are given

sound system – plus the Ambilight technology – have all been neatly integrated into a slim cabinet towards the bottom rear of the screen, emphasising the set’s extremely thin profi le. The Philips 9104 TV is a high- performance LCD set created in partnership with Georg Jensen to celebrate European creativity and craftsmanship.


Whirlpool 4 Doors fridge freezer wins iF Design Award


Whirlpool has been awarded a 2019 iF Design Award for its freestanding 4 Doors fridge freezer. Now in its 66th year, the iF Design Awards are based on: product, packaging, communication and service design, architecture and interior architecture as well as professional concepts. The 2019 iF Design Awards saw entries from 50 countries. Following an intensive three-day assessment from an international, high-profi le

B1L) boasts a contemporary design with slim fi t doors and integrated handles, to complement popular handle-less kitchen cabinetry, and a full-width black interface that offers an intuitive user experience. The Whirlpool 4 Doors fridge freezer also benefi ts from 6TH SENSE FreshLock technology that monitors, adapts and controls the refrigeration temperature to ensure an optimal environment for storing fresh food, while the adaptable FlexiFreeze compartment has three different settings for users to choose from to suit a variety of freezing requirements.
