BRISTOL HI-FI SHOW 2019

Maurice Tryner, UK Sales Manager, Chord Electronics

“Chord Electronics had an entirely positive experience with both the amount and quality of visitors to our Mojo/Poly booth and our Hugo TT 2 and TToby system demonstration. “We felt that footfall was up on

Simon Powell, Operations Manager, Henley Audio

“The Bristol Hi-Fi Show is a staple in our calendar now, and has been for many years – standing up to the decline of shows elsewhere across the country in a resilient fashion. From our perspective, it’s the show we talk to our international suppliers about most.”

Henley Audio booked four stands at the show, including a 48 square- metre open space in The Bristol Suite, offering an experiential zone focusing equally on the CE-side of the brand’s product catalogue as well as on some key company announcements.

Mr Powell continues: “For Klipsch, we demonstrated every model from our Heritage Inspired (wireless, powered audio products) and headphone ranges. For Pro-Ject Audio Systems, we demonstrated our Juke Box product series of all-in-one hi-fi systems and also unveiled three new models from our range. For Roon, we setup an experience zone giving show visitors a dedicated site to interact deeply with the popular music software. We also formally reintroduced Musical Fidelity to the UK market.”

Seeing is believing “Elsewhere, we promoted the symbiotic relationship between our ranges and ran two ‘real world’ systems in true living room environments. The former was a ‘student’ layout, with multiple playback options – including CD, streaming and vinyl. The latter was a ‘parent’s lounge’, featuring vinyl and CD playback.”

previous years; Bristol is always busy and this year did feel particularly busy on all three days. I think everyone who attended would have

enjoyed the show. “There’s always a great mix of manufacturers available to interact with, whether you’re into vinyl, streaming, headphones or home cinema. There was something for everyone. The atmosphere was always genial, coupled with genuine enthusiasm.”

Where was most of the interest? “We showed the capabilities of our latest product, the Hugo M Scaler (digital audio upscaler) in our main demonstration room. We were able to show the upscaling benefits that this brings to digital devices.” Referring to next year, Mr Tryner adds that Chord Electronics would “absolutely” be exhibiting. “This is the one show in the UK that we would not miss,” he says.

Kate Movessian, Yamaha

“This was Yamaha’s first attendance in three years. Visitors were really impressed with the set-up; we had many comments about the MusicCast 20s being seriously impres sive for their size and price. The MusicCast VINYL 500 also received a lot of attention for its network streaming abilities, as did the overall versatility of our MusicCast system. We also had a lot of visitors praising our choice of music we used for demos. “The show was busy. We had a

steady flow of visitors in our room throughout Friday and Saturday, with fewer visitors on the Sunday, as might have been expected.”

Nia Davies, Managing Director, Leema Acoustics

“For us, it was a great show as ever; the standard of visitor is always really high at Bristol. Every conversation is with someone who has a genuine passion and interest in what you have to show them. “From our perspective it seemed like Friday was very busy all day, but that on Saturday and Sunday the number of visitors

was high in the morning and then trailed off slightly in the afternoon. “The visitors I spoke to seemed very impressed with the show, and often had a list of ‘must sees’ thanks to the great media coverage beforehand. We’ll be back in 2020 with more hand- made hi-fi!”
