RANGE REVIEW: RENEWABLES & SUSTAINABILITY HOW
AGA CAN HELP WITH ENERGY USE
Energy use is high on the agenda for many of us right now and the dual desire to keep bills as low as possible while also considering our impact on the environment means it makes sense to look at ways to do things differently. AGA has recently introduced models designed exactly with this in mind…
T
he new range of future- ready Rayburn Heatranger models offers the cast-iron cooking the brand
is famous for and can also provide you with all the central heating and hot water you might need. That means there’s no need for a separate boiler, saving money on servicing costs and, of course, space. These cookers are also highly
controllable – meaning you can programme them to be on when you need them – and they are compatible with renewables, such as ground-source heat pumps. These models are also HVO ready. HVO – hydrotreated vegetable oil – is 100% renewable and is set to have big part to play in the UK reaching the government’s target on reduced carbon emissions. There has also been discussion in parliament about cutting the duty on this fuel, meaning reduced reliance on fossil fuels and reduced costs too.
All-electric AGA cookers Since its invention, the AGA has evolved to use the very best fuel available at the time. Original models ran on solid fuel before oil, gas and electric models were launched. As

energy consumption became more of an issue, programmable models followed, allowing owners to never use energy unnecessarily. This is, of course, even more important today. One of the reasons AGA puts all its R&D effort and resources into models that run on electricity is that it means customers can benefit from renewable energy sources, such as solar power and ground-source heat pumps, as well as the option to buy from green energy suppliers. Whereas once AGA cookers were on all the time, new models have fast heat-up times and can be switched on and off as required, meaning energy is not used unnecessarily. Many models have an eco-setting, which allows them to slumber, and many newer models also include induction hobs – one of the most efficient ways of cooking.
Rayburn Ranger with eco-mode The brand-new all-electric Rayburn Ranger makes a real statement in the kitchen with its gorgeous retro styling. But its stylish good looks are only half the story. This model is the most technically advanced Rayburn ever made. The ovens feature an e-setting, which ensures you are never using energy unnecessarily, and the heat-up times are fast, meaning the Rayburn Ranger ® is ready to cook when you are.

and cook at a faster speed which, over time, can save a considerable amount of energy. Many AGA and Rayburn cookers have state-of- the-art induction hobs offering a number of cooking zones and many innovative features.
Heating only the space you’re using There’s no point in heating more space than you’re using, which is why stoves are proving an incredibly popular means of heating right now. While stoves once burned solid fuel only, there are now a host of electric options available. Electric stoves from the AGA collection come in range of traditional and contemporary designs, meaning there’s one that works for every space. They’re easy to install and emulate the look and feel of a real fire. They are easily controllable, meaning you can use a remote control or an app to ensure they’re on when you need them to be but not when you don’t. And with more of us using renewable energy sources, such as solar panels,

stoves from the collection offer a great solution to lower cost heating.
Rayburn Stratus electric fires There are few things as relaxing and evocative as watching a real fire flicker away. The mix of cosy warmth and beautiful flames guarantees to make even the chilliest of days snug and comfortable. Offering the ultimate flame picture combined with controllable heat, a Rayburn Stratus fire gives both the look and cosiness you’d expect along with ease and efficiency. No flue or chimney is required and simply a 13-amp electricity supply means these fires are easy to install anywhere in your home. Each model offers a heat output of 1.9kW and is A-rated for energy efficiency.
