AND FINALLY Baking up a storm for community group

Russell Roof Tiles hosted an extravagant baking event, as part of its ongoing efforts to raise £50,000 for charity.

It’s the second charity event of the year which saw ten contestants from the company put their baking skills to the test, each donating £10.00 to enter and impress head judges Trisha, Lauren

and Holly from The Green Door, an independent catering and bakery company, who volunteered to taste the sweet treats on offer and crown the first-ever Russell Roof Tiles bake-off winner.

Theresa Ensor, stole the show and won over the judges with her carrot cake after scoring highly on presentation, taste and texture. In addition to the bake-off, the team also made cupcake boxes to sell in the build-up to the main event and boost the fund pot for the Winshill Neighbourhood Resource Centre. A Burton based community centre run by volunteers who host activities and events for local families. RRT employees and their families sold a whopping 70 cake boxes which totalled £800 with every penny raised helping provide a safe space in the community for local groups and organisations to hold meetings and events.

The bake-off contestants collectively raised £1,000 of which Russell Roof Tiles have match-funded, taking the total amount donated to the Burton based charity to a huge £2,000.

Andrew Hayward, managing director said: “We’ve raised more than we originally intended so it’s great that it’ll be going back to the resource centre and funding more projects and activities for Burton locals.”

Grant UK completes Marching March

Employees at Grant UK took a total of 10,802,523 steps to complete Marching March,

a fundraising and team building activity which has raised £115 for the Wiltshire Air Ambulance charity.

Anna Wakefield, head of marketing at Grant UK, said: “Marching March was a big success last year when employees took part during a time when we could not be together.”

“We wanted to bring it back in 2022 but with a twist, so hence the team challenge. There has been plenty of friendly competition and Marching March has once again been a great initiative to fundraise for charity and support staff well- being.”
