aesthetically, that’s the main consideration for most of our customers. So, we rethought the website, which is now organised by slips and panels, rather than by natural or engineered, and within those sections there are products: some of which will be natural, some of which will be engineered. We don’t expressly state what is engineered and what is natural, we let the customers decide what they like, and then have the conversation about what the product actually is. “


Layton adds: “We also offer a natural stone slip as well, The Britannia Range means customers can have natural stone in panel or slip, and engineered in panel or slip. The beauty of our natural stone slip is that it is UK sourced and manufactured, we have a great partner, and we have a range of styles and colours that suit the various regional tastes.” Peter Bayliss is marketing communications director at Consilium CXXI, and says: “We try to make sure we supply quality products but what differentiates us more, we believe, is the service element. Customers can have faith that if they buy from us, they can get hold of it again, that we won’t leave them with a gap in supply. We very much operate as a team, it’s not a supplier/customer relationship, so much of it is teamwork to get the right product for the application.”


The latest product line to come out of this close teamwork is the Rustikotta vertical tiling system by Tempio – Rustikotta is a versatile alternative to traditional products. Using the best materials and the latest ceramic technology to make it resistant to extreme temperatures, waterproof and easy to install. And best of all it offers pioneering zero maintenance costs. Rustikotta expands the range and versatility of the existing Wild Stone cladding systems. Bayliss adds: “It feels like it’s completely different to what we normally do through Wild Stone but at the same time it fits in extremely well. We are starting to talk to the market about this and we are excited about the prospects for it.


The beauty of Rustikotta is that it is incredibly easy to put up. There are no adhesives, it’s all mechanical fix. It’s this sort of thing that if you had a nice garden but with a rather ugly old fashioned rendered garage, you could batten the garage and install these tiles in a weekend, and totally transform the look. That said, it’s equally suitable for large scale projects like student accommodation or larger commercial schemes, from a developer point of view, it ticks the boxes on speed and costs. From an end user and builder point of view it’s very easy to fit, handle and to understand.

Environmentally it ticks all the right boxes. It means you can have a facade now that is matched with the right insulation and backing, and meets all the requirements.” Used together with Wild Stone, stone cladding dream houses can become a reality.


Layton says that, by and large, if a customer wants a wall cladding product, Wild Stone can offer it. “This means that our products can be used in a huge variety of projects from a huge architecturally demanding modern house, to Premier Inn hotels and railway embankments, right down to a garden wall in someone’s new landscaped garden. There really aren’t any projects that we can’t take on, whether the

On the grounds that architects love to play around with textures, Wild Stone can mix and match colours and finishes to give them something different, it is hoping that its name will feature increasingly on specifications. Pearson says: “With Wild Stone, we are aiming to offer something that people can have faith in, realise is a quality product, with a warranty, and has the correct, acceptable, accreditation required which can offer them a look and a price point and availability that will fit their requirements.


“Plus, we are focused on the service element, so customers know we will do what we promise.”


In the company’s continuing efforts to strive to be the best stone panel supplier, Pearson says that there is now full BBA accreditation across the entire range of products - Heritage, Engineered & Britannia.


He says: “Our BBA will cover the complete system, including our Wild Stone flexible adhesive and our marine grade stainless steel mechanical fixing; a first for this type of product. Backed by our own 25 Year Warranty on the ‘Complete WS System Install’. Our decision to engage with BBA will provide end to end accountability for the products we supply and mitigate risk for your customers. The BBA process has entailed extensive research, auditing, inspection, testing and certification to help instill confidence in the products, services and systems supplied by Wild Stone. Overall, we believe the future is looking very bright for Wild Stone”. BMJ
