Lords plans major Beaconsfield redevelopment
Builders merchant Lords is investing into the complete redevelopment of its Beaconsfield branch to increase the range of new services and im- proved customers facilities. Work began on site on 1st of June, with old trade counter and sheds being replaced with a two-sto- rey shop/showroom and warehouse. An improved customer experience will include extended parking areas for cars and larger vans. With the new store comes a wider
product range as well as additional trade services. A landscaping display area and brick library will be avail- able, in addition to an extensive decorating centre and HSS Hire counter.
The site will also house a kitchen and bathroom centre, as part of Lords Plumbing & Heating, where customers can access specialist 3D kitchen and bathroom design services. The refurbishment project is ex- pected to be finalised in spring 2022. During construction, the branch will remain open for customers, with the service area moved at the rear of the estate.
Reina Reeves, branch manager at Beaconsfield, said: “Refurbish- ing our branch is a hugely exciting project and we’re looking forward to extending the products and service range for our customers.”

MKM hits 84 branches with Newark and Birmingham
Independent builder’s merchant chain MKM Building Supplies, has opened its 83rd and 84th branches, in Newark and Birming- ham, respectively. The 1.7acre Newark site at Stephenson Way on the Brunel Drive Industrial Estate will stock a wide range of building essentials including a comprehensive plumb- ing and heating department, elec- trical, drainage, roofing, timber, doors, ironmongery and joinery. MKM Newark branch director, Bill Burroughs says: “Newark is a thriving market town and there is an incredible amount of building
projects in the area – from new build estates, repairs, mainte- nance and extensions.” The new Birmingham North branch on a 1.45 acre site at the Minworth Trade Park in Sutton Coldfield was opened by Ex- Blues and Baggies striker Geoff Horsfield.

NFRC suspends BLM British Lead
The National Federation of Roof- ing Contractors has formally suspended HJ Enthoven Limited (trading as BLM British Lead) as a Supplier Member for one year, for breaching the competition clause of the NFRC’s Code of Practice. This follows the decision of the Competition and Markets Authority to fine BLM British Lead

National distributor, PJH has invested in three new regional distribution centres. The move brings significant expansion in its Next Day Delivery Service to retailers, to include up to 91% coverage of UK postcodes. The new Enfield, Thirsk and Bristol PJH sites offer 22,000 sq ft, 3,000 sq ft and 27,000 sq ft of warehouse space respectively, with further plans to expand the Thirsk site to 10,000 sq ft, later this year.
