One of the most prolific charity fundraisers at builders merchant Travis Perkins is taking on his biggest challenge yet. Andrew Craig, an account manager at Travis Perkins Managed Services whose father has dementia, is taking on an Artic Challenge. Craig, who has never skied before, said: “This is a deeply personal challenge for me. Taking on the sub-Arctic Ski Marathon will be one of the biggest physical and mental challenges I’ve ever faced, pushing my body to its absolute maximum in one of the harshest environments on earth. My father lives with dementia, and I’ve seen the devastating impact it can have on individuals and their families. It’s an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for the Alzheimer’s Society, a cause that holds a special place in my heart and is Travis Perkins’ chosen charity partner. I’m honoured to support their mission.”

Selco skates up to help local park
A Birmingham DIY skate park is expanding thanks to the help of builders merchant Selco. Bournbrook DIY Skate Park in Selly Oak was the first council- opened facility of its kind in the UK and is now set to increase its number of ramps and features to make its facilities more suitable for learners looking to take up the sport for the first time. The Stirchley branch of Selco Builders Warehouse has donated bricks, cement and other materials which will be used to help provide
additional ramps, banks and obstacles for skateboarders just taking up the sport to enjoy. Berni Good, director of Birmingham Skate Spaces, a Community Interest Company which created the facility, said: “Since we opened in 2021, Selco
has been one of our largest and most consistent supporters. This is the third time that we have received materials from Selco to help us take the skate park to the next level. Our main priority in the short term is to build an extension to the skatepark to help ensure we are able to accommodate people just starting out on their skateboarding journey, as well as those who have great experience. Now skateboarding is an Olympic sport, we want encourage people to participate.”

partners and customers for their generosity and support, and a special thank you to Henry Slade for leading the MoBros team to such a fantastic win!”
Funds raised during Movember go towards supporting innovative world-class men’s health projects in their key focus areas – mental health, suicide prevention, prostate and testicular cancer. For Amy Jeffries, a member of staff at Bradfords’ Worcester branch who participated in the fundraising activity to cycle 1770 miles, the challenge was a rewarding and meaningful one. “The Movember campaign was something personally close to my heart, with men’s mental health and prostate cancer in my family, so for me it was all for a great campaign and charity.”
