TIMBER
K
nowledge is the most powerful weapon that any company can have at its disposal – and that’s especially true for builders’ and timber
merchants.
Merchants – and timber specialists in particular – can help lead the way to a more timber-focused construction industry by making sure their staff are experts in the different timber species they stock and sell. TDUK’s Knowledge Library now contains even more Knowledge Sheets answering common questions about every aspect of building, supplying and working with wood. The TDUK Knowledge Library alone has more than 100 separate resources available covering a wide range of timber topics. First launched in 2023, TDUK has been continually adding new resources to the Library, and there are now more than 100 Timber Knowledge Sheets covering a huge range of timber topics. Some of the latest publications, introduced at the end of 2024, include: ¡ Timber Decking ¡ Timber Cladding ¡ Passive Fire Protection ¡ Timber Acoustic Regulations ¡ Timber Roofs.
The Knowledge Sheets have been developed by TDUK in partnership with experts from Edinburgh Napier University, as well as input from our unrivalled membership network of timber professionals.

Everything is covered from the day-to-day things such as ‘Loft Conversions’ or ‘Decorative Timber Flooring’ to more specialised timber systems.
Different methods of timber construction are described in an accessible and easy-to- understand fashion. You can also read our introduction to ‘Lightweight Timber Frame Construction’ or learn more about ‘Modern Methods and Offsite Timber Construction’. Plus, using our Knowledge Library you can refresh your memory on other key timber topics, such as our C16/C24 span tables, ‘Timber Grading’ and ‘Timber Sizes and Tolerances’ guidance.
