Beesley & Fildes buys CCS
North west independent builders merchants Beesley & Fildes have bought CSS (North West ) Ltd . The acquisition means that Beesley & Fildes inherits the customers of the 21 year-old business and increases their branch number to ten. CSS has been established since 1998 and trades from a single site in Walkden Worsley near Manchester. This will be Beesley & Fildes’ second branch in the Manchester area.

CRS Building Supplies joins BMF as tenth branch opens
Somerset-based CRS Building Supplies, the latest member of the h&b buying group to join the Builders Merchants Federation (BMF), is set for a further year of expansion with their 10th branch opening in Bridgewater this month.

Travis Perkins managing director
Builders and plumbers merchant group Travis Perkins has appointed Kieran Griffin as managing director for its Travis Perkins builders’ merchant business with immediate effect, following the retirement of Paul Tallentire.
Griffin joined Travis Perkins 24 years ago as a management apprentice; in his time he has been branch manager, regional director of the builders merchant business, managing director for the Group’s interior building products specialist CFF in 2008 and then Keyline in 2013. He moved across to head up the group’s industrial pipeline and heating solutions distributor BSS in 2017.
“During his long and successful career with the Travis Perkins Group Kieran has developed a track record for providing clear and strategic leadership that generates outstanding results and outperforms the market, often in challenging circumstances.”

National Buying Group (NBG), Britain’s premier buying group for independent merchants, is expanding its list of partners by welcoming Alloway Timber & Putney Builders Merchants (PBM). First speakers announced for BMF All-Industry Conference Forum
The BMF has confirmed the first two participants in its Industry Forum debate at this year’s All-Industry Conference: David Young, managing director of Bradfords Building Supplies and Tony France, sales Director of Ibstock Brick will take part in the forum which is one of the most popular sessions at the BMF’s biennial Conference.

CORRECTION - PARKERS, COVERS
In the 2019 edition of the BMJ League Tables, it incorrectly stated that Parker Building Supplies had left the NBG buying group and that Covers are in the CBA group.
BMJ would like to point out that this is not the case, Parkers are still members of NBG and Covers have been members of Fortis for some years.
